John Lewis Swirl Dining Chair
Very comfy once we had overcome assembly difficulties!
Nothing to do with our lack of skill. The wrong legs had been sent!!

Bought two of these six months or so ago, in red, because they looked so stylish and felt far comfier than they ought to be, for plastic chairs. They came super-cheap as they were ex-display and slightly damaged (scratched), which also meant I didn't have to assemble them, so can't comment on the difficulty or otherwise. I was a bit horrified at how dear they were at full-price - didn't think I'd ever pay that much - but I've liked having them so much, I've just bought another two in turquoise - and I can't wait for them to come!

We bought 4 of these in the smokey grey in May 2013 after many months of searching. Assembling them was ok and we were very pleased with how they looked and how comfortable they were. However, all four have been returned after the back sheared off one of them with an almighty crack, almost tipping my husband back into a wall- fortunately no real harm done, but if it had been a child or grandparent......We have not abused the chairs by swinging on them or rocking back and forth- they have just been in normal use in our kitchen.
Please be careful.

Bought these chairs to go in the kitchen with my new circular glass table and they look fantastic. They help to give a spacious feel as the light filters through them .
They were easy to assemble; another tip I would recommend is to partially screw in the fixing screws and then take them out again BEFORE starting to assemble the chairs. This seems to make the screws much easier to thread 2nd time around.
Overall I am absolutely delighted with these chairs, they really do look stunning.

Spectacular & Comfy Too!
I have been looking at these wonderful chairs for several months now- comparing other sites & value for money etc., so the reviews have been most helpful in my decision to buy these fabulous chairs....so much so that I initially bought 4 & have 2 more en route! Thanks to your last review from Suffolk, I had no problems putting these together, with my Mum of 75 there as the 'other pair of hands' which proved most useful. You only need a little common sense and patience it's not rocky science folks!

I have just assembled 4 of these beautiful, sturdy chairs. However, I found that the fixing screws were extremely difficult to locate and tighten. I have two tips.
1. Put a little machine oil on the screw and they will tighten up much easier.
2. Line up all four screws before tightening otherwise the last one will not locate properly.

Very comfortable gel chairs
I have just finished assembling my first Swirl chair. As advised I wore gloves (the thicker the better) to turn the allen key and couldn't have completed the task without. It took about 10 mins which I thought was fine. The chair is very comfortable and looks lovely. I had originally planned to purchase the JL standard Gel chairs but, on trying both out in store, found the Swirl chairs to be much more comfortable. I would have given 5* except the price is quite expensive. Lovely chairs though and I will be buying two more.

Great chairs, critical assembly instruction not included
Previous criticisms now understandable. Two people are not required to assemble. Critical fact is that fixture steel bolts are a little big bigger than brass nut embedded in chair seat. By so doing, manufacturer achieves long term fixing without lock washers. However, as Allen wrench is small, and torque required is great, my wife could not turn bolts in. Instructions should so advise!!
I could, but for six chairs, I also would highly recommend using gloves to prevent blistering, and/or spreading assembly over two or three days.
