Very comfortable gel chairs
I have just finished assembling my first Swirl chair. As advised I wore gloves (the thicker the better) to turn the allen key and couldn't have completed the task without. It took about 10 mins which I thought was fine. The chair is very comfortable and looks lovely. I had originally planned to purchase the JL standard Gel chairs but, on trying both out in store, found the Swirl chairs to be much more comfortable. I would have given 5* except the price is quite expensive. Lovely chairs though and I will be buying two more.

Great chairs, critical assembly instruction not included
Previous criticisms now understandable. Two people are not required to assemble. Critical fact is that fixture steel bolts are a little big bigger than brass nut embedded in chair seat. By so doing, manufacturer achieves long term fixing without lock washers. However, as Allen wrench is small, and torque required is great, my wife could not turn bolts in. Instructions should so advise!!
I could, but for six chairs, I also would highly recommend using gloves to prevent blistering, and/or spreading assembly over two or three days.

Stylish and comfortable
I almost didn't buy these chairs because of the negative comments about assembling them. As a not particularly strong woman I managed the chairs by myself in 10 minutes. You need to be even-handed when you're screwing the two parts together and I found it useful to wear gloves to get a good grip on the allen key. The chairs are very comfortable and I would have allotted 5 stars but they are very expensive for plastic!

Good looking!
Fantastic chairs, really comfortable and just perfect for our new look dining room.

Very poor
Order 6 of these chairs and they were delivered needing to be put together. We could not get the bolts to line up and therefore very insecure, we even had a company recommended by John Lewis try to construct them... to no avail. They are not cheap very disappointed with this product.

Try putting them together!
I ordered two of these lovely chairs as they were a perfect match for my kitchen but I was rather miffed when they were delivered - bearing in mind the cost of them - that I had to put them together. Instructions self explanatory, say you need two people - an octopus would have been more handy as well as the patience of a Saint!
Sorry have rated them as 2 stars because of the difficulty putting them together otherwise they would have got 5!

Great looking, comfortable chair
We bought two of these chairs in smoke to go with the John Lewis Mystic table, which is a square, glass table. They work really well with the table and they are surprisingly comfortable. They are quite expensive but overall we are very happy with our purchase.

Badly made
They look stunning but the mechanism for fitting the chair onto the base is rubbish. The nut that was supposedly bonded into the acrylic just came loose so you couldn't tighten the bolt. Defects in two chairs out of the four delivered. Sent them back.
