Looks nice, but not safe for kids This tea set splinters easily, leaving razor sharp shards of glazed china in the carpet, etc. The packaging is great for presentation, but falls short when you want to pack the tea set away. My advice is to steer clear. Looks nice though and my daughter loves the role play - but plastic is safer. 31 January 2013

A very happy toddler I got this for our 2 year old daughter for christmas she absolutely loved giving everyone a cup of tea - human and teddy's. The set is beautiful nice to have something which is very real, rather than plastic. 16 January 2013

Granddaughters present The tea play set was well packaged, delivery was quick and the product was in perfect condition and was well received by my 8yr old granddaughter. A similar tea set was purchased through Amazon but it was returned due to very poor quality, in the end John Lewis was a better buy. Well done. 04 January 2013

Good size tea set for child's play Bought this tea set as a gift for a 5 year old who wanted it to play tea parties with both toys and also friends and family and this was perfect for that. Many children’s tea sets I looked at were tiny and only suitable for dolls play but this set is much larger and therefore more realistic giving more oportunity for fun play. To change my rating from good to excellent the basket would have had bands to keep the set safe and in place once the plastic packaging inside was removed like in full sized picnic sets. I definitely rate this set for anyone looking for a child friendly china tea set... it's now up to her parents to worry about it chipping or breaking!! 02 January 2013

Good Quality product Children will love it's size just right for small hands. A quality product and value for money. the bonus was not having to carry it from the shops and prompt delivery I am delighted with it. 14 November 2012

Really poor quality I bought this for my daughter last month, and it was broken when it's arrived, plus the quality was very poor compare to the price. I didn't manage to return it as it's just too much hassle, would be good if John Lewis could offer a refund tho. 07 March 2012

Delightful! This is a lovely toy, given to my daughter by her grandparents. She plays beautifully with her dolls and play food - it really fires her imagination. The only downside it the storage because the tea set is proper china and the plastic storage inserts are somewhat flimsy. I forsee a time when the inserts will break and a 3 year will be carrying a basket full of china, which I fear will soon go the same way as the flimsy inserts. Better would be to strap in the basket to keep the china teaset safe more robustly. 01 February 2012
