Product information

These blackout blinds eliminate light and give 100% privacy, allowing you to get a sound night’s sleep or simply to relax completely at leisure. What’s more, they are speedy to put in place, durable and moisture resistant, making them perfect for any room including bathrooms and kitchens.

Operated with a slick beaded metal chain, each blind includes a cleat that can be drilled into the wall to keep the chain out of reach of small children or pets. The blind can be washed with a damp cloth to keep it in prime condition.

All blinds can be fitted either inside or outside the window recess, to a wall or ceiling. A groove tube allows for ease of reverse rolling, meaning your blind sits flush to the window and therefore minimises light entering the room from the top or sides.

Instructions and fittings are included. The blinds can be used as is or cut to size with a hacksaw and fabric scissors for a tailored fit. There’s no need to fiddle with the blind fabric if you’re cutting it to size, as it simply slides out of the tube.

For the optimum results when fitting your blackout blind, please refer to our blinds fitting guide.

This blind comes with a safety device which you must install to keep cords and chains out of the reach of children and pets.

Move beds, cots and furniture away from the window covering cords, and choose cordless blinds for children's rooms and nurseries. Corded blinds in your home can be retrofitted with safety devices to keep cords taut and out of the reach of children.

These blinds are out of stock for a reason, they're brilliant. These blinds are perfect for my garden room. Very good quality and good value for money. I put up 7 blinds in all and had to cut them all to size. Well worth the effort as they were half the price of made to measure. The only problem was in ordering them as 4 were out of stock. They came back in but almost immediately were out of stock again. Very frustrating. However an extremely helpful customer services agent managed to source all 4 for me from individual JL Stores across the country. They all arrived within 2 days. The ones from Liverpool arrived next morning! Fantastic service with as I said before a brilliant customer service agent. I need another one for a different room which is also out of stock so I'ill be ringing my helpful agent again. 02 April 2014
Pretty but not blackout I bought these blinds for my new windows, expecting a more interesting blackout blind than the norm. Whilst they do look pretty with the weave prominent in the fabric, they do not block out light nearly so effectively as my old cheap and cheerful blinds. In addition when the sun is on the windows I can clearly see the pattern of glue used, presumably, when bonding the layers together. I had to cut them to fit, so may not return them, but am disappointed. 25 March 2014
Is this really a blackout blind? We bought this for our 3 month old son's room as we wanted a blackout blind and John Lewis are normally good on quality and price. Whilst the fabric and finish are nice, and we did manage to install it, I would not say that this actually blacks out the light. The room the blind is in is south facing and gets a lot of light, whether there has been some mis-labelling I don't know but if you are solely counting on this blind to stop any light coming into your room then I would not recommend this. Very disappointing and not fit for purpose. 21 February 2014
Do not buy! Atrocious quality - bought 3 blinds and all three broke within 2 months due to poor quality pulling mechanism 04 October 2013
Excellent Product This blind really ticked all of the boxes for me. I needed a blind that was easy to assemble, good quality, functional and would fit in a kitchen. I got everything I wanted and I would recommend it to anyone. 06 November 2012
excellent service Very helpful interface between on-line ordering and store service. I inadvertently ordered the wrong size of corded curtain rail on-line but had no problem getting the correct size when I returned the curtain rail to the store in Oxford Street. All staff involved were very helpful and courteous. 21 October 2012
Excellent quality These blinds are not to be confused with some you get in DIY shops... The brackets are made of metal which means they won't break. The chain is metallic so it does not wear. Easy to put up and great value for money! 16 October 2012
great result We picked up five of these blinds in the JL Wycombe store to fit in a square bay window and 2 recess windows. Very helpfull staff advising on options. Fitting was pretty straight forward. There were clear instructions on how to reduce the width - just make sure you have the right tools - a good hacksaw, decent (large) scissors, screwdrivers, tape measure an/or craft knife - and you are away. I agree with a comment made elsewhere regarding removal of the blind from a recess window - it pays to measure accurately and check the width by eye before clicking both ends in - it's a bit of a faff to get the blind back out. all in all - good quality JL product at a great price. Much, much cheaper than one of the 'bespoke' blinds companies. 15 October 2012
