John Lewis Vesper Bar 5 Spotlight, Black
Looks really stylish
Installed in our kitchen and looks great - chucks out lots of light - really pleased with our choice.

Style over practicality
This product does look good. However, three months in and three of the bulbs have blown! The bulbs are not available from John Lewis or any other shop that we can find locally. We have had to order online. The lights are supplied with a rubber sucker to remove and replace bulbs but this does not work. The glass cover of the bulb breaks off and they have to be pulled out with fine tooth pliers! They are equally difficult to get back in. Wish we hadn't purchased this product and agree with another reviewer that too much trouble to remove and replace (not to mention expensive). Don't sell this John Lewis!!

Avoid at all cost
We bought two of these, wish we hadn't. Difficult to put up, wont sit flush against the ceiling and hard to hide internal wiring. Now three months in 4 bulbs have failed, which are expensive and a difficult size to find. Worse the bulbs have disintegrated and come out piecemeal (using a pliers as the supplied sucker doesn't work). This in turn rotates the black cover until the whole thing comes apart. Very surprised at John Lewis for selling this, should be discontinued. Wish I'd looked at the reviews of the silver version which point all of this out (mostly one star). Would return it but too much hassle to take down and fill / repaint ceiling but might have to come down soon as it's falling apart as I replace the frequently failing bulbs. You have been warned!!

Almost impossible to replace the bulbs
We bought the white version. After 2 years ,we have only been able to replace 1 of the 3 failed bulbs. The sucker just lifts the lens, with the bulb stuck in place . They do not pop nor twist - very fustrating

looks great. but a couple of downsides
Positives. Decent quality. Great contemporary look and excellent value.
Negatives. The light unit is black. The mount that screws to the ceiling is chrome / steel. Once fitted you will see some chrome poking through that somewhat spoils the Matt black finish. That can be sorted by carefully applied black paint once fitted.
Fitting is fiddly, getting the body of the light fitted to the mount needs patience so that no wires get trapped.
The unit comes with bulbs and a rubber suction cup to help insert and turn the bulbs..the suction cup is hopeless, the grade of rubber it is made from is too stiff / cheap, so you will end up spending 10 minutes trying to fit each bulb with your fingers.
So as long as you are patient and a have a steady painting hand + a fine brush, this light is really nice and looks brilliant.
