Q & As

John Lewis Wooden Xylophone 2.4 5 8 8
Dreadful There's nothing remotely musical about this toy. Anyone hoping to pick out a tune will be sorely disappointed - it simply doesn't work. My 16 month old son lost interest very quickly. 18 February 2014
Xylophone. 9mth old grandaughter loves bashing it. Not very musical though, neither of them as yet. 26 January 2014
Attractive but useless This product is very attractive to look at but disappointing in use. The sound is flat and there is very little difference in the notes which come from the different 'keys'. In my opinion this is a waste of money because it will be merely put aside by children. 04 November 2013
Wooden Xylophone I purchased this Xylophone for my baby granddaughter's first birthday at Christmas, she adored it. Since then she has spent many happy hours playing with it, a very good buy indeed. 09 January 2013
Tuneless My daughter got this a a Christmas present, but I'm afraid it is a complete dissappointment. It is brightly coloured and well made, but the notes are out of tune. It just needs a re-design to make the wooden keys the right lengths, I think JL could have made a much better product here with a little more thought. 08 January 2013
Looks nice but doesn't work My little one got this for his birthday, it looks great. I love wooden toys. I was very disapointed as all the notes sound the same. Pointless. I took it back and brought a metal xylophone which my little boy loves. 15 October 2012
Not what I expected My son received this for his first birthday a couple of weeks ago. I liked the idea as I do want him to be able to explore muscial sounds. 3 of the 5 notes sound pretty much the same. It is not much more than a drum really. I took it back thinking it was faulty but reading the only other review, it looks like this might be the norm. Disappointing. 16 August 2012
Little disappointing Sound is not great to be honest but I am sure my one year old isn't going to notice! 17 June 2012
