John Lewis Writex Desk, 90cm
There is very little to do here in constructing the desk.
The only thing that was a faf were the screws that fix the supporting cross piece to the legs on either side. You can only manoeuvre the alan key about a quarter on a turn, which makes tightening up these screws a job that seems to go on for ever.
The desk top easily screws onto the legs & thats it, your desk is ready.
I have my Apple desk top computer on mine & it fits comfortably, giving plenty of room for the keyboard & mouse (plus other bits & bobs). The draw works well. Plenty of room for documents, pens etc.
This is a good solid desk. No complaints from me.

Writex Desk 90 cm - Adaptable product!!
Lovely product. Good size - i.e. not too big. Will be able to use it as serving table or similar after its use as a desk is not needed as it is a nice looking piece of furniture.

Stylish and Compact
Very good value, stylish and compact desk, good for rooms where fitting in a full sized desk is not possible. The assembly could not have been easier, I am no DIY expert, but took me just over 15 minutes to do it all by myself. The printed instructions about taking out the drawer was not too obvious, but checking the same figure in the pdf document online, and zooming the pdf document gave me the clue.
Just got it yesterday, and used it for few hours as I was working from home.

I'm so pleased with this lovely desk. It looks great in my bedroom..however I agree with other reviewers, the instructions are awful - john Lewis, I have recently bought various items of furniture from you and another popular furniture shop and their instructions and fittings were far easier to follow and use!
I don't think the tiny, badly photocopied drawing for removing the drawer looked anything like the real drawer sides, however I managed to put the legs on without removing the drawer in the end.

Poor quality product
I wish I had seen the review dated 9 December 13 before I bought this desk. Having received and built my desk I can confirm the same experience. Firstly, and most importantly, it arrived with a chipped and rough edges which are getting worse with use. Secondly, the assembly instructions are difficult to follow and the construction design is poor (even for an experienced DIYer it took 45 mins to build). Overall, a very disappointing purchase. Avoid this desk.

Two problems with this desk. First it arrived with a chipped and rough leading edge - enough to snag clothing. Second, assembly instructions are poor with illustrations which don't help one bit - mainly how to remove the drawer which is essential before you can put it together. Look for something else.

This modern desk has proved perfect for our home office. We bought it in white lacquered wood and it goes perfectly with our iMac. The drawer is exactly right for the keyboard and mouse, as well as stationery items. It is a quality ipiece of furniture of Danish design and represents excellent value for money.

While it was quite obvious that this was a quality product, I was very disappointed to see that the first instruction (removing the drawer) was impossible to carry out, possibly because two-left side runners had been installed. Fortunately my boyfriend is extremely good at DIY and after some fiddling round he was able to drop the drawer down to allow access to attach the legs. If he hadn't been around I would have had to return it. Hence the 3-star rating. Now that it's up and in one piece, I'm very pleased.
