John Lewis Zandra Floor Lamp
This lamp was bought for a 90 year old but after less than 3 months the bulb exploded breaking the glass protective cover and scattering glass.
It was also difficult to assemble.
I must say John Lewis staff at the branch where I returned it were helpful and took action and looked into problem.
I will not be replacing the lamp having lost confidence in the product.

Easy to assemble
A good lamp that takes about 5 minutes to assemble. Excellent value for money

poor quality control
It has just taken us over an hour to put the lamp together - no spanner supplied AND a loose item under the top bulb and metal plate which turned out to be a screw which had not been fitted to hold the dimmer part and cables - we had to dismantle almost the entire top assembly to get to it. Luckily the lamp does work though is a little unstable as has a small base which I hadn't realised. However I am not returning it as I cannot go through all that again. JLP should monitor their suppliers better.

Very pleased...so far
Bought one in July, and really liked it so bought a second for another room. No trouble putting together and so far really happy-but we've only had them 5 months.

Good lamp but very tricky to put together
I bought this lamp to replace a previous one which had become loose and wobbly and eventually snapped in the middle, so it's interesting and a bit concerning to note from previous reviews that others have had this problem too. I thought it was damage when we moved house but we had very careful removers so now I'm not so sure.
Overall I think this is an excellent lamp (provided it doesn't snap again in the middle - watch this space!) which is why I replaced my first one with the same model. The light quality is good and can be adjusted easily to 'fine tune' how bright you want it. Mine doesn't have problems with buzzing from the controls fortunately.
My main gripe however is that the instructions for putting this new one together aren't at all clear. They don't mention, for example, that each of the ends is covered in a protective plastic fitting which needs to be removed before you try to screw things together (sounds obvious but isn't, for example when attaching the main struts to the base). Also, I was provided with two screws for the top but there were two already partly in place and I was left wondering if/how I was supposed to use the other two.

I have just been clonked on the head with my zandra floor lamp as it snapped in the middle rendering it useless. It is out of guarantee but I am disappointed it didn't last longer. I went on line to see if I could replace with a sale item and checked on the reviews. I notice other people have had the same problem.

Do not buy
We have experienced the same problems with this light as Shawy64. Whenever we used the top light there was a slight buzzing noise. More annoying is the fact that the light snapped in the centre rendering it useless. Would not recommend!

didnt last long
I bought this lamp because it offered the best of both worlds, an ambience light and a reading light. it was tricky to put together but didn't take too long. when using the dimmer switch there was a slight humming electrical sound which was a bit annoying.
However the most frustrating thing was when the light just snapped at the centre join! I have had the lamp a couple of years and its been well looked after. I expect a lamp of this quality and price to last much longer so feel very disappointed
