I bought this slightly wary after reading previous reviews and have to confess they were right. Whilst it is OK, the finish and build quality is not up to the usual standard I would expect from John Lewis. It does take a while to put together but I dont really have a problem with that as long as the end result justifies it but having spent two hours building I was beyond the point of sending it back but the overall finish and quality was dissapointing to say the least. All I would say is read the other reviews and make your choice - it looks good from a distance!

The desk is very nice and is sturdy. The instructions are clear and all pieces included however the 30 min time indicated for assembly is unrealistic. It took me and my daughter 3 hours.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Delightedlewes Really pleased
We are now really pleased with this desk, initially we had problems with assembling the drawer runners but thanks to the excellent service we received from the manufacturers and John Lewis the problem was overcome, therefore cannot fault but only recommend this desk.

I almost didn't buy this desk after reading all the negative reviews but I'm glad that I did. It is a joke to say that it can be assembled by two people in half-an-hour and I challenge anyone to do so. It took me an hour to assemble the drawers and myself and a friend another hour to assemble the desk itself - neither of us are begiiners at this sort of task.
Despite that it wasn't too difficult to put together and there were no instances of ball-bearings flying all over the place! The runners were extremely greasy though which made handling them difficult. The drawers have worked perfectly from the start.
Once assembled I loved the look of it straight away and it fits my study perfectly. I'm so glad I wasn't put off but I do reccomend JL adjusts the instructions to give a realistic time for assembly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by TR77 great desk if you never have to disassemble.
Firstly i would like to point out that this is a nice desk, pretty easy to set up and looks stylish.
Great unless you have the need to disassemble.
Unfortunately due to its design the bolts secure directly into the metal frame. In my unsuccessful attempts I managed to shear 2 of the main allen key bolts rendering disassembly impossible.
I have just moved home and ended up having to leave behind a perfectly good desk that I have carefully looked after which is hugely disappointing and now means I need to spend additional money on a new desk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by bertie01 Smart looking desk
Came in 2 flat packs both very heavy - delivery people carried them upstairs which was excellent service from them. Easy to put together with very clear instructions, but because of the weight, 2 people may be better than 1. Very solid, excellent construction, modern and smart.

Rated 1 out of 5 by DIYNovice001 Poor Quality and Not for the DIY Faint-Hearted
The instructions say assemly of this desk will take a minimum of 30 minutes for 2 people, but anyone who can achieve that is a DIY superstar! It is incredibly time-consuming and fiddly and took us more than five hours to complete.
However, even worse - the instructions are some of the worst I have ever seen. The visuals are confusing, the wording not proper English - and the quality of the screws and bolts is extremely poor.
Altogether very disappointing and not up to the usual John Lewis standard.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Solus Nice desk! However!!!
Really nice desk, easy to install and sturdy. However, the glass top does not allow the use of a laser mouse such as the Apple magig mouse without a mouse. It would have been helpful if this was noted on the sales info. If I was aware of this I probably would not have purchased
