John Lewis Zane Desk
The desk itself being glass is nice, granted, but just exactly as the other reviews here, it's the drawer unit that's the problem, it's not a straightforward build, poor quality screws, cheap materials, the paint work isn't great, the drawers need to be wrestled into the slides and now they're in they're very stiff and stick when you open and close them, one of the ball bearings popped out during the build. Very disappointing, I'd expect better quality from John Lewis.
If you actually want a desk to use on a day-to-day basis (i.e. with drawers to use!!), I'd buy something else.
I bought a metal shelving unit with drawers from a very well known Swedish retailer and it leaves these drawers in the dust, much simpler to build, soft glide to close, the desks in this shop are £££ cheaper; I'd choose a desk from there over this one any day. Sorry John Lewis, usually my store of choice... you failed to deliver a quality product, poor, poor, poor!!! I will be complaining to the store.

8 hours to assemble!!
I bought this desk after seeing it at John Lewis Oxford Street. The finished product did look great and at a fair price. When I purchased I was told part assembly was required. When it arrived in 2 boxes and hundreds of pieces I was surprised to see the instruction manual said 30 mins to assemble. 8 hours later and it doesn't look exactly the same as the finished article on display at John Lewis - impossible to align the drawers correctly and they do not glide well on the runners. However, it's still an attractive desk.

Modern black glass desk
I bought this for my 11yr old son and it's style will suit him until he is grown up. It was easy to assemble and looks smart. It is sturdy but elegant - I chose the black version and I would say the colour is more suited for boys than girls. There perhaps isn't that much storage, given the size of the desk and because it is made of glass, it shows every speck of dust although I was prepared for that! My son loves the desk and I would recommend this product.

A lovely looking desk although it did take a while to put together (just one person though!)
The draws seem a little stiff but may get smoother with time.
Well worth the money

Desk is of good quality. Drawers quality is very poor
A well designed desk, the metal frame, glass top are both good quality, easily built. However, the drawers quality is really poor. The white gloss paint is not good. sliding rail quality is poor. I had to order replacement due to defective rail. Screws cannot be tightened due to poor wood quality. Extremely happy with John Lewis customer service when asking for replacement. Thank you!

Good quality value desk. Easy to assemble provided you take your time. It will take longer than the instructions indicate. Only reason not rated as excellent is that the draw alignment is not perfect when complete.

Good desk - nightmare to put together
Lovely looking and stylish. High quality metal, glass and wood fixtures. My son is absolutely delighted to have it.
But, do not ignore the other reviews re putting it together. This was an absolute nightmare. The parts are beautifully numbered and all tools are supplied, but the suggestion in the (very poor quality) instructions that 2 people can erect in 30mins is more than farce. It took my wife and I 4+ hours (and having got to our late 40's we are not amateurs in this),and the final result is unsatisfactory. This is flat pack with a capital F! - the desk comes in 2 large boxes. The wooden drawer unit itself requires more than 50 screws and bolts and unless everything is absolutely square, it just wont fit together properly. Looking back, I would not consider buying this unless you pay for the delivery guys to assemble.

Desktop looks great but drawer section looks cheap
I bought this for my home study, together with the James table. The glass and metal parts are great and it looks sleek and modern. The drawer unit is rubbish - I thought the drawers would be metal because the product it is described as comprised of glass & metal. The drawer unit looks cheap and was murder to put together because the holes were not machined to line up properly. 45 minutes to construct is a laugh - it took a couple of hours.
