Switch problems Wires connected to LED flex when switch is operated.Continuous flexing causes wire(s) to break. Loose LED/wires then interfere with switch mechanism. Kenwood must know this. I do because I took mine to bits, removed the loose LED and continue to use the kettle minus the little blue light. 30 December 2014
Worst customer service ever i bought this kettle for my mum, and she used once think it is too loud, so i went back and return this, but after 30 explanation the staff convince me that it is not their fault that my mum used it once and my mum is a lier that because they think the kettle is quietest one that they have. so they refuse to refund it. 2 year guarantee is useless, they even tell me that if i inistst sending this back to the floor, that Kenwood would charge me and refuse to take it back. what a non-sense 30 December 2014
Simple, elegant, efficient kettle We bought this kettle on a Which recommendation and have been very pleased with its performance. It boils rapidly, quietly and allows one to use as little as one cup of water. The water level indicator windows on either side of the kettle are very clear ensuring one does not overfill and waste electricity boiling unnecessary quantities. All in all a great value for money product. 09 December 2014
Great kettle, great value for money I wanted a replacement kettle with a white lead - how difficult was that to get until I went to John Lewis in Exeter. An extremely helpful assistant took the time to find this one. There were only two available, all other kettles had black leads which are an eyesore in my kitchen. I've read the other posts, but have to say that so far, I am delighted with it. It boils really quickly, especially for one cup and is much quieter than my old kettle. I love the flip-up lid, it's really easy to fill and pours very well. So far so good! I guess time will tell, but no complaints whatsoever so far from a very fussy customer. 01 December 2014
non pop up lid again Nice kettle when new - but soon it developed problem with switching ON. Often it would not switch ON without being shaken first. Then it became more and more difficult to open the lid and now, after 20 months, it cannot be opened. Unfortunately at the time of purchase it did not come with 2 year warranty. 27 November 2014
Not fit for purpose We too have had problems with this kettle - twice. Our kettle started leaking just as the warranty expired. I rang the manufacturer who blamed this on the fact that we hadn't used descaler regularly. This is not an area which has a problem with limescale and our previous kettle had lasted donkeys years. So, they grudgingly agreed to replace it. The replacement has gone the same way....and is failing to switch itself when the water has boiled. Needless to say we'll replace it with another make. 15 November 2014
very poor I had this kettle less than 2 years when it started to leek. The guarantee is only one year so it was a waste of money. 27 October 2014
Another faulty kettle I chose this kettle because it was fast-boiling, had a good grip handle and an excellent limescale filter. Plus it was recommended by Which? at the time of purchase. However, after a year the lid became too stiff to open and then failed completely. This meant it was not so easy to fill and I could not clean the limescale filter or the inside of the kettle (important as I live in a hard water area). Then after 14 months the on/off switch became faulty, either you can't switch the kettle on or it doesn't cut out automatically once it has boiled. In addition the on/off bulb doesn't always work so you are not sure if it is working or not. I had expected the kettle to last at least a few years. Unfortunately my guarantee was only for one year - John Lewis now give a 2 year guarantee on this kettle. I am now aware that these are common faults with this kettle. The issues are exactly as described by some reviewers here (and also many Which? members). The manufacturing faults with this product need to be fixed and I think John Lewis should raise these faults with the manufacturer. 19 September 2014
