Kenwood JKP210 Kettle, White
Another faulty kettle
This is a very noisy kettle, and the opening mechanism quickly became rather capricious (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't). All this is now irrelevant as it's sprung a leak and definitely needs replacing. A completely unsatisfactory product.

smart design and ease of use
Bought for my elderly mother who has found this kettle, because of the wide opening top, very easy to fill up and also to clean inside. It is also lightweight even when half full.

Well how do you review a kettle? The only answer - ask the wife! Mine tells me that this kettle is nicely balanced and safe to handle, thanks to its nice grippy rubber-coated handle. It has a very easy and well-positioned thumb-button to open the nicely sprung lid for filling. It boils water too, and quite quickly, Most importantly, even I can manage to use it, so all in all a very satisfactory and positive experience so far.

Yet Another Faulty Kettle
Mine lasted a bit longer than other reviewers - 16 months before the lid became too stiff to open and then failed completely. Even more bad news - my guarantee was only for one year - John Lewis now give a 2 year guarantee on this kettle.

Another faulty kettle
I bought this kettle in November 2013 and had to return it to John Lewis yesterday for replacement as problems with the switch started about a month or so ago. The issues are exactly as described by some reviewers here (and also many Which? members) - either you can't switch the kettle on or it doesn't cut out automatically once it has boiled. Judging by many of the customer reviews on Which?, there is clearly a common problem which Kenwood needs to address. We need both Which? and John Lewis to heed this and take the matter up with the manufacturer.
I still like this model of kettle (it's fast-boiling, a good pourer, excellent metal limescale filter) but if this replacement goes wrong, I don't think I'll be getting another one.
Thanks to John Lewis for it's no quibble guarantee!

Design looks good
I wish I had read reviews before purchase some 18 months ago. Needed a white, lightweight either hand use kettle to replace my old Kenwood. Have had no problems with the lid, but kettle started leaking some months ago then stopped. Has started again and also on/off switch is now a bit temperamental. Will have to replace with a new one as there doesn't seem to be any like for like alternatives on the market. Will make sure this time we keep receipt safe in case of problems as didn't bother with the present one as I have never before had a kettle that hasn't lasted at least 5 years. This kettle had a good right up in Which magazine which was the reason we bought it. Thought the leak problem was a 'one off' - obviously not!! Surprised Kenwood have not addressed the problems - not good for their image.

Good to use but should last longer
Bought this 18 months ago and have found it very easy and convenient to use. However, the lid opening switch has just gone and it has started leaking. The former doesn't really surprise me given the use it gets but the leaking does. I don't mind the financial cost which seems reasonable for the use a kettle gets but I don't like the environmental cost. That said and despite some of the reviews that appear here I am going to try another one because it is really very good while it works.

Good value for money
We chose this product carefully having been disappointed by the past performance of two of the competitors. It is elegant and fit for purpose and easy to fill from the spout without opening the lid.
