Q & As

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 32 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic cooking tool Very pleased with the Kenwood Chef. Cooking has become more of a joy than a chore. Was losing interest in making my own cakes, pies, puddings, bread etc etc: but the ease with which this machine can be used has changed my mind. I have a food processor, but would recommend the Kenwood mixer every time. I recommend purchasing from John Lewis as delivery was very quick. 17 February 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by My Second Kenwood Chef Have just taken delivery of my Kenwood Chef Classic bought to replace my first Kenwood Chef which I have had for 42 years and has outlasted 2 food processors and 2 electric hand whisks! Only thing that is concerning me at the moment is the recipe in the Cook Book which came with the Classic. Page61 Pea and Ham Hock Soup which calls for '500 petits pois peas' ! Anybody know how you count these? I am looking forward to using my new Chef but very sad about the loss of the original one but heh 42 years of hard work has to beat most kitchen equipment. 29 January 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not quite the reliable workhorse I'd hoped for! I have just used this new mixer for the first time to make Paul Hollywood's panettone. It replaces my old Chef which I had from the '70s. Having mixed the ingredients until smooth using the dough hook, I increased the speed to between 3 and 4 and walked across to the sink. In about a minute the mixer had vibrated so much it had travelled 8 inches or so and crashed to the floor. The mixer still works so reasonably robust in this respect. However this is obviously dangerous for such a large item to fall. Luckily there was no one nearby and the casualties are the other items which the wire from the mixer 'cleared' from the back of the work surface. They smashed. Is it really only intended for 'light' work and if so why is it supplied with a dough hook at all. Very, very worrying, dangerous if left even for a short period and needless to say, disappointing. 19 December 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by REMARKABLE WORKHORSE i am delighted with my purchase - wish I'd bought one years ago. Previously had a hand held mixer in the mistaken belief that a stand mixed would sit on the side/cupboard unused because too fiddly to use/clean etc; HOW WRONG CAN YOU BE!!! Don't hesitate this is a great purchase the basic tools and splashguard all included. My only negative comment it's a shame the manufacturers don't supply a dust cover with it - albeit at a slightly higher price. ONCE AGAIN JL HAS SURPASSED ITSELF ON DELIVER AND PRICE!! 17 December 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love It! Sturdy, easy to use: lives up to its reputation. Expect to have it a lifetime. It's made cooking so much easier. 16 December 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Food Mixer Recently purchased this mixer for my wife who is an avid cake maker and decorator. The mixer is ideal, a good all round workhorse for every day use. Powerful, flexible and quieter than previous models. The price was also very competitive. 18 November 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Kenwood Chefs - A Family Heirloom I inherited my Mum's 1960's Kenwood Chef, she had prepared so many memorable meals for us it felt like part of her soul was in it, both when she cooked and after. Mum left us a few years ago and earlier this year her faithful Chef eventually suffered a terminal motor failure. To keep the spirit alive I bought a new Chef for my baking - few mechanical updates but still the same at heart. Mum would have been proud. 27 August 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Terrible I first purchased this mixer in June 2013. It had to be replaced in November 2013 due to a faulty motor. The motor on the replacement does not sound much better, and I guess it is just the cheap parts. My mother had the same problem and had to replace the mixer with a better model. Her new mixer sounds smooth when it is running, not like it is on it's last legs, like mine does. Today I called Kenwood as the K beater attachment had corroded, leaving a black dust on my fingers. They told me this is due to it being in a dishwasher...BUT IT SPECIFICALLY TELL YOU TO WASH IT IN A DISHWASHER! They told me to use a scourer to rub the flakes off then coat it in lemon juice. I think they should replace the part as it is not fit for purpose. Overall a terrible, cheaply made, piece of junk. DO NOT BUY THIS. 21 August 2014
