Kenwood kMix Blender
Beautiful-looking well-made blender
I originally was attracted to this kMix blender because of its looks but I initially rejected it because of its high price (although not as expensive as some other top-of-the-range blenders and much cheaper at John Lewis than some other stores) and some bad reviews. However, in the end because I couldn't really find anything else comparable I decided to buy this as it was at least a recognisable name and also a really beautiful design with its 50s-style look (particularly in the almond colour). It is well-made with its cast-aluminium body and really solid precise switch to change between the different modes - dips (?), soup, drinks, ice crushing and its 800 watt motor is very powerful and yet reasonably quiet. However, the removable filler cap in the lid of the 1.6 litre glass jug is of very thin plastic which seems at odds with the substantial build quality of the rest of the machine and there is no explanation of the pulse function in the instructions. There seemed to be an element of "health and safety gone mad" in the instructions which continually stress that the glass jug should NEVER be used with hot ingredients (never seemed to affect the glass jug of my old blender) and that the detachable blade assembly should NEVER be immersed in water!?!. Still it seems to work well and is reasonably easy to clean - looking at the disassembled pieces of the jug it reminded me of the liquidizer on our old Kenwood Chefette - very similar, slightly clunky design.

although the design is pleasing the overall functionality of this blender is very poor. it states that it is dishwasher safe, but infact only thgoblet is, the blade unit has to be removed and rinsed under a tap not submerged underwater. also all liquids have to be at room temperature, it says in the instructions yuo have to cool soups before blending then reheating them, very time consuming and piontless. Purchased this machine yesterday from Peter Jones, it manged 2 smoothies this morning then the motor burnt out on the 3rd. going back this morning......back to the drawing board for kenwood.

Simple and easy to use
Blender arrived really quickly after ordering. The set up was easy it looks really stylish and functional, easy to operate, makes the best smoothies ever, good for crushing ice and blending soups. The blender is really easy to clean I love the glass jug feels like a really professional piece of kitchen equipment. I love it and couldn't live without it now.

Sturdy and excellent results
Looked around for ages for a blender that could cope with ice and frozen fruits. This one does and looks good too. Different settings allow for different consistencies. Highly recommended.

Reassuringly solid kitchen kit
I bought this blender to make smoothies, soups and dips and it has worked well. It cleans easily (though those blades really are sharp so be careful!) and it goes back together very neatly so its all in all a v satisfactory purchase.

Looks good but disappointing
It leaked, badly and was then impossible to clean fully. The base unit has small holes in it which run through to the motor.
Would be of concern if I had been blending liquids. Returning the item today
