Kenwood kMix Blender
Great design and lovely solid feel. Soft start and pulse are two great features along with a little drain hole in the spindle sump in case of spills. Would have liked more control with additional simple speed settings, say 1-6? Used it a lot in last couple of weeks and it does a great job. Great companion to the K-Mix stand mixer

I bought this as it seemed really sturdy and I needed a new blender. We like to make smoothies with frozen fruit and it is a disaster- as it blends the frozen fruit, it unscrews the base and milk sprays all over the kitchen! I tried it with just the frozen fruit( banana) on the ice crushing setting today- the base unscrewed and the smothie wasn't smooth. This isn't cheap and it just doesn't work. Very disappointed.

Not worth the money
It's quite poor at blending and I'm often left with chunks in my smoothies even if its been left on for a couple of minutes. As you need to leave it going for so long your smoothies end up warm. So if you like warm smoothies with chunks in them, this is the blender for you!

SO HEAVY I CANT USE PLUS IT LEAKS OFTEN - A DEBACLE
On the plus side, this is a rolls royce in terms of looks and power. Top marks for that.
The downside is:
in 3 days it leaked twice and on third occasion the entire jug full of liquid leaked through in seconds - because i did not tighten the screw enough. However, this is dodgy - its got to the point where i now test the jug is tight enough with some water, before clipping into the motor base. Furthermore, the jug is reallly really hard to screw on to the blade for 2 reasons: if you have small hands, its hopeless; and if you have weak hands the enormous glass jug is too heavy to make screwing the blade on easy. (hence easy to screw it on slightly at an angle, causing the huge leaks).
The sheer weight of the goblet is ridiculous!
After 3 days, i cant continue with this. Great design, super power, and all pointless if your hands are too weak or too small.

Beautiful-looking well-made blender
I originally was attracted to this kMix blender because of its looks but I initially rejected it because of its high price (although not as expensive as some other top-of-the-range blenders and much cheaper at John Lewis than some other stores) and some bad reviews. However, in the end because I couldn't really find anything else comparable I decided to buy this as it was at least a recognisable name and also a really beautiful design with its 50s-style look (particularly in the almond colour). It is well-made with its cast-aluminium body and really solid precise switch to change between the different modes - dips (?), soup, drinks, ice crushing and its 800 watt motor is very powerful and yet reasonably quiet. However, the removable filler cap in the lid of the 1.6 litre glass jug is of very thin plastic which seems at odds with the substantial build quality of the rest of the machine and there is no explanation of the pulse function in the instructions. There seemed to be an element of "health and safety gone mad" in the instructions which continually stress that the glass jug should NEVER be used with hot ingredients (never seemed to affect the glass jug of my old blender) and that the detachable blade assembly should NEVER be immersed in water!?!. Still it seems to work well and is reasonably easy to clean - looking at the disassembled pieces of the jug it reminded me of the liquidizer on our old Kenwood Chefette - very similar, slightly clunky design.

although the design is pleasing the overall functionality of this blender is very poor. it states that it is dishwasher safe, but infact only thgoblet is, the blade unit has to be removed and rinsed under a tap not submerged underwater. also all liquids have to be at room temperature, it says in the instructions yuo have to cool soups before blending then reheating them, very time consuming and piontless. Purchased this machine yesterday from Peter Jones, it manged 2 smoothies this morning then the motor burnt out on the 3rd. going back this morning......back to the drawing board for kenwood.
