Kenwood kMix Kettle
Should last longer
Nice kettle but within 6 months the handle split and water drips down the handle. Would not buy this model again

Didn't last long
We found this kettle to be fine for the first 8-10 months and it is a lovely bright pink colour. However recently it has started to be faulty, the main issue being that it is not switching itself off - we can't leave it to boil as we had one case where it almost boiled dry and burned out. Now need a new kettle and will not be buying another one of these models.

I had to replace this kettle twice and gave up when kettle number three developed a dangerous fault: the lid flipped open while it was on, meaning it never switched off and posed a burns and fire hazard. The previous two had faults with an unstable base and faulty switch. I persisted with the model because it was so beautiful but clearly it has dangerous design flaws and should be withdrawn from sale until safe for use.

Only 1L capacity
Browsing on line and ordered this one for the colour after looking at several. Unfortunately assumed it was a 1.6 like the other similar Kenwood one, so was disappointed when it arrived that it was only 1.0L. Had to return. Shame the capacity is not stated clearly in the product titles or that JL don't have a kettle 'capacity' as a search filter.

I bought this kettle because I really liked the design and colour and thought Kenwood were a good make. This has been the worst buy ever. Within a few months the handle broke, and then the plastic around the on/off button came off. We glued back together, but I should have sent it back. Now a year on it won't turn off so carries on boiling all the water away, so now its become unusable.

Broken within a year
I'm not an avid tea or coffee drinker and as such I don't think this kettle was in any way over-used, but within a year the on/off switch had broken and I was no longer able to use the kettle.
I wouldn't buy another Kenwood kettle I'm afraid.

Had two, both broke within 9 months
I bought one of these kettles and within 6-9 months the plastic opener button had broken on the handle making it impossible to open the kettle lid. I refilled by placing the spout under the tap which is okay but isn't ideal and shouldn't have to happen.
I took the kettle back and John Lewis replaced it. I'm now on my second kettle and exactly the same thing has happened again within 6 months. The plastic button has broken off entirely.
The kettle should be built to a better quality than this.

Looks nice, but just over a year from buying the first one we are now looking to return our 2nd one. The first one blew up and shorted our electricity in the kitchen. JL very good about replacement. On the replacement the button which opens the lid has broken off, due to a bit of plastic snapping, we were getting around to returning it but this morning I heard a strange hissing noise in the kitchen. We have recently had a leak, so I listened carefully, thinking it was water escaping. But no, it was the kettle making a small electric hiss. (it was not in-use by the way, just plugged in). I've unplugged it and it's going back!
