Kenwood kMix Stand Mixer, Red

Product information

The Kenwood kMix food mixer is a refreshingly contemporary twist on the classic Kenwood stand mixer.

A generous 5 litre stainless steel bowl can easily handle 12 egg whites, while the wire aluminium balloon whisk quickly forms it into stiff peaks. A non-stick coated hook will knead up to 1.3kg of dough, while a 2.72kg cake mixture is - literally - a piece of cake, with the K-Beater.

The powerful 500 watt motor has 8 speeds, including a special slower setting which enables you to fold ingredients into your mixture, for perfect results every time. The splashguard is formed of one piece with a hinged feed tube, enabling the easy addition of extra ingredients to the bowl. Finally, the head lift safety interlock prevents accidental operation, by stopping the mixer attachment when you lift it out of the bowl.

And with a versatile range of attachments available to purchase too, this kMix food mixer offers endless culinary opportunities! Among those available are a pasta maker, meat grinder, various pasta rollers and cutters, and even a juicer.

Q & As

Kenwood kMix Stand Mixer 4.5 5 40 40
Much better value than a KItchenaid Bought my my husband as Christmas present. It's a lovely machine and looks fab in the kitchen. It is much more powerful than the more trendy KItchenaid and is solidly made. Baking is a breeze with this machine. I am very happy 20 January 2015
Looks good and does the job I've been using my kmixer for over 18 months every week to make sourdough bread. It's not too noisy and so far has worked reliably. For best results I mix the dough very wet for up to 30 minutes at the lowest speed, then add the final 100 grams of flour and mix for another couple of minutes. So much better than needing it by hand. I would never have had the confidence to buy this mixer without the 5 year guarantee, as I suspect that the quality of the parts are inferior to the earlier models made in Germany. 10 January 2015
Excellent addition to the kichen Like a lot of previous reviewers I researched the options of kmix v kitchenaid.i have used kenwood kitchen appliances before and have a very reliable 32 year old food processor! The kitchenaid looks lovely but the kmix wins hands down when it comes to features, use and price. The motor is bigger and kneads bread like a dream. I had heard the kitchenaid can be a little ' clunky'. I only received the Kmix as a wonderful and unexpected Christmas gift so I have not used the Kmix yet for cakes or pastry but the fold function will be very useful. Attaching the differing tools is very easy and it was a bonus receiving the additional creamer/ scraper blade in the box. The kenwood website offers recipe ideas but it would be nice if a book could be produced too. 28 December 2014
Such a let down! I have to say I am bitterly disappointed with this mixer, I am thankful I kept my Kenwood mixer which is coming up to its 30 birthday, which works like a dream, looks a bit tired, but is up to the task in hand. After just two years, this mixer apparently requires new gears and a new motor, I will be not be doing this, as it costs far to much, and who is to say it won't do it again. The colour is lovely, and it certainly looks the part, but when I spoke to Kenwood, I apparently used far to often? Oh dear was my reply, and there was I thinking it was a mixer and more than capable to mix a cake mixture more than a few times a week. My dear old mixer just keeps going and going, and if there is ever a problem it can be repaired extremely easily, were as this one can not, due to the fact it is has a digital brain?! So ladies and gentlemen, it may look extremely trendy, but if I had my time again, I would be looking for a less trendy appliance! 18 December 2014
More powerful than KitchenAid! This machine is more powerful (500W) than KitchenAid (300W), yet is less expensive. What more can you wish for? The vertical handle on the bowl is very practical and easy to hold, especially when pouring mixture. The metal body is heavy so is very sturdy and won't wobble during the use, unlike machines that are made of plastic. At the same time it is lighter (8kg) than KitchenAid (12kg), so it's not too heavy for those who have to take it out of the box for each use (like me). It comes with a Flexi beater in addition to Whisk bowl tool, Dough hook, K-beater, which is a bonus!! I used to use a hand-held single electric whisk to make sponge cake, which would take 10 mins to beat. As I had to hold it I couldn't do anything else. With this, it will be done in less than 5 mins, and I can do other things too! One thing I must say is that the bowl is so big that it doesn't fit in my fridge, so if you need to chill the mixture you'll have to transfer it into another container. But this problem is not unique to kMix Food Mixer. I definitely recommend this machine to all my friends who love baking!! 09 December 2014
Good so far. After reading reviews I bought this model as it seemed one of the best. Only used it a few times but has done the job each time. The only negative point would be when turning the dial for the settings you have to go up slowly one by one, you can't put it straight on setting 3 for instance. Not sure whether this is a fault on my one or is the way it is. 09 December 2014
An outstanding feature to display in the kitchen. This was a product which took much deliberation to come to a decision on due to the many competing products in the market. However , with the offer from John Lewis coupled with their back up service it was by far the best option. Moreover it is a product which meets all our catering needs. 18 November 2014
Just great I really thought hard, looked at reviews before I bought my kmix, do I go for kenwood or kitchen aid, I am so pleased I went for the kenwood, made bread, cakes, really pleased, and added bonus in the box the creaming blade, and it was on offer with a free liquidiser as well, so well worth the money, a very pleased lady. 17 November 2014
