We bought this kettle in May 2014 because we wanted the variable temperature control. We also liked the look of the kettle.
To use it was really very nice - a quick and not too noisy boil with a good pour. The buzzer that went off when turning the kettle on, off or when it finished was a bit loud but we quickly got used to it.
Unfortunately after less than 6 months the buzzer started to go and the display occasionally read incorrectly. After waiting almost 6 weeks for the repair, the repaired kettle only functioned for a couple of months before the screen in the kettle broke and rendered the kettle unusable.
We got a completely new one but this had a lid which didn't close completely so steam came out the top during the boil and water leaked out when we poured.
So we returned this one to JL and changed to a completely different brand.
This was a very disappointing kettle because for such a price you expect a decent build quality. It just isn't there from our experience. I wouldn't recommend buying this kettle at all.

This kettle is the best in its category - I love the simplicity of the design, the temperature reading, the un-fussy variable temp selector. However I had to take it back and exchange it for a different brand due to the annoying buzzer.
The buzzer is loud, harsh and unrefined. It goes off whenever:
- The kettle has boiled (usefully)
- You turn the kettle on
- You put the kettle down
- You press any button
- You start to get thirsty or think about hot drinks
Making a cup of tea now sounds like a toddler playing a game of "Operation"

Originally I went into Newbury store and purchased the brushed silver model as I did not see any other colours available but after a couple of days I noticed the lid was not fitting properly. I took the kettle back into store and they were very apologetic but unfortunately didn't have ia replacement in stock. The in store person that sorted it all for me was Robert and he was so helpful in placing a replacement order online and said he would do home delivery as I am more than 30 mins to travel.
I have to say the print out of the order was not good as it was the very end of the day and Robert apologized that the cartridge was nearly run out . When I got home the confirmation email of the ordered showed it in 'black' but I wanted silver as the original. I did email customer services to say if I wasn't happy I would return which they were more than happy with.
I replacement arrived and have to say thank you Robert for the mistake as I much prefer this one its is lovely addition to my kitchen.

My wife & I love this kettle, but the batteries for the digital display only last 2 weeks!
John Lewis replaced the original kettle very quickly, but the replacement suffers from exactly the same problem.
Surely the batteries should last much longer than 2 weeks!
KitchenAid customer services have proved useless, never replying to emails and when I eventually got through on the telephone, they had no idea how long the batteries should last. Their only suggestion was to return the kettle!
I know the kettle works as a straightforward kettle without the batteries, but is there a fault which will get worse in time, or is it a basic design problem?

this is the most I have paid for a kettle but I have to say I really like it. It boils super fast, looks good and feels like a quality kettle. We did have a minor problem with the temp monitor but exchanged it and have had no problems since. It's a bit of novelty watching the temp gauge but makes waiting for the kettle to boil a bit more interesting!

The reason I purchased this kettle was I had to return 2 Artisan kettles within 3 years.
I like the look of this Kitchenaid 1.7L kettle, although it does not quite match the performance of the Artisan, and the "bleeping" noise can be a little irritating at times.

This KitchenAid Kettle Looks really smart in our kitchen + even at it's full capacity it boils large quantities of water really quickly, you can Adjust the temperature of your choice from 50 to 100°C thanks to The easy to read digital display you can check the water temperature on the screen even when the kettle is off its base. The stainless steel kettle allows you to keep your water maintained to the desired temperature for up to 30 minutes when the kettle is left on its base. With its nice design and numerous features this is the best Kettle we've ever owned, It feels like it is built to last, It also pours very well indeed, We feel the Bleeps are Not bothersome at all don't let this put you off buying this Kettle you can turn it off at the socket pick it up place it on the base then turn it on + when you place it back on the base turn the socket off to avoid any Bleeps, We love this Kettle +we recommend anyone to buy it.

This kettle looks great in my kitchen, and I love its simple design. My only slight niggle is the way that it 'beeps' when you turn it on, or when it reaches its desired temperature - it can be a little bit annoying!
