Although a bit pricey this kettle is nice to use. Lid opens easily, but family find the beeps quite irritating

We originally purchased this kettle in Sept 2014 after admiring our friends kettle. The original kettle had a wobbly handle (not great for a kettle) and John Lewis exchanged this immediately, The second kettle had a sticky lid which ultimately became stuck after a couple of months. John Lewis replaced this, immediately. The third kettle boiled brilliantly and we were delighted that we had a kettle with all the features we had wanted as well as one that looked good in our kitchen. We thought it was excellent and put our previous experiences behind us. After a couple of weeks the kettle started to select the temp it was going to heat to and within a few days did not go beyond 40 degrees. Again John Lewis exchanged the kettle and suggested we went for a different manufacturer. However, as we liked the product so much (when it worked) and each of the faults were different suggesting bad luck rather than an inherent quality issue with manufacturing, we thought we would opt for the same product. The kettle boiled twice then never again. I have now conceded, accepted that there is a general issue with manufacturing and chosen a different manufacturer. Am exceedingly disappointed.

Lovely looking kettle in good quality stainless steel. However the only minus thing is that the kettle beeps when boiled and beeps when you replace it on the stand. We checked all literature and doesn't state this anywhere.

Purchased this kettle in November 2014 from JL Cribbs Causeway.
On Friday 12th June 2015 after boiling the kettle to make Tea, the handle detached at the top exposing what can only be described as a major design flaw.
The three screws that secure the lid/handle mechanism in place barely screw into the top of the handle rendering it an accident (a serious one) waiting to happen.
I would suggest that the design is so poor, It should be removed from sale before anyone gets severely scalded.

We bought this kettle in May 2014 because we wanted the variable temperature control. We also liked the look of the kettle.
To use it was really very nice - a quick and not too noisy boil with a good pour. The buzzer that went off when turning the kettle on, off or when it finished was a bit loud but we quickly got used to it.
Unfortunately after less than 6 months the buzzer started to go and the display occasionally read incorrectly. After waiting almost 6 weeks for the repair, the repaired kettle only functioned for a couple of months before the screen in the kettle broke and rendered the kettle unusable.
We got a completely new one but this had a lid which didn't close completely so steam came out the top during the boil and water leaked out when we poured.
So we returned this one to JL and changed to a completely different brand.
This was a very disappointing kettle because for such a price you expect a decent build quality. It just isn't there from our experience. I wouldn't recommend buying this kettle at all.

This kettle is the best in its category - I love the simplicity of the design, the temperature reading, the un-fussy variable temp selector. However I had to take it back and exchange it for a different brand due to the annoying buzzer.
The buzzer is loud, harsh and unrefined. It goes off whenever:
- The kettle has boiled (usefully)
- You turn the kettle on
- You put the kettle down
- You press any button
- You start to get thirsty or think about hot drinks
Making a cup of tea now sounds like a toddler playing a game of "Operation"

Originally I went into Newbury store and purchased the brushed silver model as I did not see any other colours available but after a couple of days I noticed the lid was not fitting properly. I took the kettle back into store and they were very apologetic but unfortunately didn't have ia replacement in stock. The in store person that sorted it all for me was Robert and he was so helpful in placing a replacement order online and said he would do home delivery as I am more than 30 mins to travel.
I have to say the print out of the order was not good as it was the very end of the day and Robert apologized that the cartridge was nearly run out . When I got home the confirmation email of the ordered showed it in 'black' but I wanted silver as the original. I did email customer services to say if I wasn't happy I would return which they were more than happy with.
I replacement arrived and have to say thank you Robert for the mistake as I much prefer this one its is lovely addition to my kitchen.

My wife & I love this kettle, but the batteries for the digital display only last 2 weeks!
John Lewis replaced the original kettle very quickly, but the replacement suffers from exactly the same problem.
Surely the batteries should last much longer than 2 weeks!
KitchenAid customer services have proved useless, never replying to emails and when I eventually got through on the telephone, they had no idea how long the batteries should last. Their only suggestion was to return the kettle!
I know the kettle works as a straightforward kettle without the batteries, but is there a fault which will get worse in time, or is it a basic design problem?
