KitchenAid Artisan Kettle
Best Kettle yet
I was in two minds about buying this kettle as I'd read bad reviews. However, I've had the KitchenAid mixer, processor, and blender for quite a while and they have remained trouble free. And they have remained, more importantly, blemish/peel/rust free. Besides, there is a long guarantee and John Lewis are a customer-friendly company.
This KitchenAid kettle appears to be just as substantial as my other KitchenAid equipment. I like the water temperature gauge and the lights, and the ability to set a desired temperature. I like that it is quiet and just 'pings' to let you know when it has done its job. Someone wrote that it is heavy. Admittedly, it is heavier than my last kettle but that is because it is well made from good, long-lasting material.
Someone mentioned that KitchenAid isn't made by KitchenAid but by Whirlpool. KitchenAid is the brand name for a certain American style of kitchen equipment made by Whirlpool Corporation. The same way that the Persil laundry product isn't made by a company called Persil.
The Kettle is very expensive when compared with 'lesser' models but so is a Rolls Royce when compared with, say, a Fiat. Me? I like the Rolls Royce of kettles.

Gadget fanatic's dream!
I really love Kitchenaid products. They are beautifully retro in design, solidly constructed and work very well. This kettle boils quickly and can be set to any temperature between 50 and 100 degrees and it is surprising how much better speciality teas taste when correctly brewed. Pleasant beeps and soft blue lights indicate power on and cycle progress. The appliance also has a double walled, metal body which remains comfortable to the touch, even when full of boiling water. The kettle comes in a range of colours to suit any kitchen.

Awful, Awful - really disappointed
I bought this kettle as a replacement for a cheap and cheerful kettle that had lasted for 4 years with no problems. I wanted a new kettle that would last and look good in our new home and was prepared to pay a bit extra for what I hoped would be a quality product. Sadly, having had this item for less than 6 months, it now chooses whether it wants to boil the water or just turn off at 80 degress - regardless of what temperature it is set at. What is the one thing a kettle should do? Boil water. This kettle does not achieve that, hence the rating!! Avoid.

Not worth the money
This is the most expensive kettle that I have ever purchased, so expectations were high. I was impressed by the ability to regulate the temperature and the buzzer, indicating that it had boiled was useful. I also loved the way it lit up. So imagine my surprise when suddenly without warning it stopped working after only a couple of months. What more can I say other than I expected it to last much longer. I have decided to look for another less expensive kettle that can just be replaced every couple of years if necessary.

Another addition to my KitchenAid family! Looks great. Boils quickly. Moderately quiet as kettles go. The 4 star rating relates to the weight - otherwise we would have gone for 5. It's not an issue for us because we have cast iron pans but compared to standard kettles, it's pretty heavy even with a small amount of water. This won't suit some people.

well worth the money
You can see why this kettle cost a little bit extra. I bought it in silver - good looking kettle and adjustable temperature for brewing delicate teas. Although a little bit weighty it as a comfortable handle that feels like it wouldn't slip. Great feature of being insulated so it's cool to touch and keeps the water warmer for longer. Once the water has boiled it gives a not so loud dull bing to let you know . Excellent .

The best kettle I've ever bought!
Absolutely love this kettle. After eight other kettles in two and a half years decided to buy this one and it is exactly as described. It does not get hot on the outside, is pretty quiet when boiling and the base is very sturdy. Just a few of it's good points - could go on and on. Yes I have no hesitation in recommending my beautiful looking new kettle.
