Q & As

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 140 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Brilliant... when it works My wife and I were given this kettle as a wedding gift and were initially very pleased with it. It looks good, the variable heat choice worked well and the lid mechanisms etc. - all good. Then, after 4 months... it stopped. The base lost power. Not an issue, we took it back and (after a protracted wait of about 5 weeks) we were given a replacement kettle. All good again - for about 8 weeks, then it stopped. The base lost power. It's now gone back to John Lewis and we've got a refund. Really disappointed with both the kettle, and the length of time it took in the first instance to get the replacement kettle. With it being at the higher end of expense, I really didn't expect it to have such a fundamental fault. Avoid this kettle if possible. 20 May 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor quality product Purchased this from John Lewis two years ago. Although expensive, considered it an investment buy and reassured by three year guarantee. Kettle after two years light useage has stopped working. Returned to John Lewis, disappointed as item not immediately replaced. John Lewis' best offer was to send of for repair, anticipated response in twenty working days. As I paid my money to John Lewis, expected a more proactive replacement offer. Beware three year guarantee not clear on poor quality item. Will be reluctant to purchase electrical items from John Lewis again. 18 April 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Kitchen Aid Kettle This is without doubt the worst kettle I have ever owned..I am sure if you do not intend to use it, it`s great; just put it on your worktop and it looks marvelous. . For me, the problems start when you want a cup of tea. We are now on our third (yes third) one in two years. The other ones packed up quite soon after purchase. Even when they were working, I have never known a kettle to remaining on boil so long after it reaches its temperature. Heaven knows how much this has added to our electricity bill. In my opinion Kitchen Aid should stick to doing the things they do best :: making mixers and food processors, they are fantastic. 08 April 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Great kettle, but not perfect We bought this KitchenAid kettle due to its good looks and colour options. As with other reviews, we also find it very difficult to judge the water level as the gauge is obscured by the handle. We like the variable temperature selector and the temperature gauge on the side, however, being left handed this gauge is mostly out of sight so I have to keep spinning it around. We find the kettle stays on boil a little longer than expected but it’s one of the more quieter kettles we have owned. Finally, the base unit uses around 2watts of power continually. We assume this is to provide power to the electronics but being power conscious people we find it a little annoying. Overall a nice kettle which is let down by a couple of flaws. 06 April 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very good kettle Excellent product, if not a little heavy so please bear that in mind if you have arthritis or the like. My only real complaint is that the gauge to see how far up you've filled it is obscured by the handle, so you have to get it at just the right angle to see it. Other than that, I'm very impressed with the build quality and also the adjustable temperature gauge. Being able to heat water to differing temperatures is a very useful feature indeed. 29 March 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Looks great, boils fast and quietly Looks a bit space age and can confuse new users but we love it. I use the temperature settings a lot and it's brilliant. Boils quickly and isn't noisy. Looks great too. So impressed, I have bought one for my mum too. Note it is quite heavy.... 28 March 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautifully designed, deeply satisfying to use If you need your water heated to a specific temperature for, say, different types of loose leaf tea, then look no further. You can choose temperatures between 50 and 100 Celsius. Hit the start button and off it goes, signalling you when done with a little audible chime. My only gripe is that the chime is too quiet, but a quick glance at the lights on the kettle's base, or a quick read of the temperature gauge on the kettle itself, and you'll know if your water is ready. This kettle is beautifully designed and embellishes even the most drab of kitchen counter-tops. It's pricey but worth it! 22 March 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Kettle This is an expensive water boiler! However, so far so good and it appears that you get what you pay for - quality! It is relatively quiet, boils quickly to a temperature of your choice, and pours very well. This kettle is worth the extra few bucks and comes with an extra guarantee period from JL.
