Q & As

KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment 2.5 5 4 4
Exactly what I expected Good product which does the job well Found easy to set up and use .. Helped that I watched the kitchenaid video on YouTube first 15 June 2014
great for those who know how to use one minces uncooked and cooked meat very well, is superb for salsas and despite being made of mainly plastic its holding up very well, I use it a least 1 every other day. the trick for both uncooked and cooked meat is cold, at least as cold as your fridge is but better if you pop it in the freezer for 5 mins, but I usually feel its fine from the fridge.. if meat is room temp or still warm it will mush. same applies with any mincer(I have used several) 06 June 2014
Not Fit For Purpose Very very very slow to mince, even when using coarse plate, lumps of something black ooze through where centre spindle rests, any sign of gristle or sinew and the thing gives up and has to be taken apart to clean. Top tray too small, "stomper" to force meat down chute drags it back up, cheap and nasty looking plastic construction, (although I am assured it's what crash helmets are made from). As for the sausage stuffer, everything above times 2, meat could go out of date while waiting for skins to fill. Needless to say I have returned this extremely expensive failure, and bought a stand alone dedicated mincer for very little extra which works brilliantly, I would not even consider any other KitchenAid attachments after this disaster. 01 April 2013
Sadly had to return product I've had my kitchenaid for 10 years now and was looking forward to using this new attachment. I tried it twice, the first with cooked lamb which was ok but the second time with raw lamb which was a disaster. The lamb didn't mince but rather came through as mashed meat/paste, but worse than that with black bits in. On closer inspection this turned out to be metal filings from the chopping blade rubbing the mincing disc. I had a quick look on the Internet to see if I had done something wrong but quickly realised this appears to be a common problem. More worryingly some customers reported that using this attachment broke the gears on the machine so I returned this for a refund. Excellent service from John Lewis but would have expected much more from kitchenaid. 18 March 2013
