KRUPS GVX2 Expert Coffee Grinder
Bought this John Lewis June 2012. Did everything we wanted until this July, when the switch button vanished, never to be seen again. Such a shame! For the money we paid, I would have expected a longer life. From what I,ve seen here, Shall not send for repair.

Waste of money
Wish there was a way to give this a zero rating. Bought as a reasonably priced entry level model, this machine gives a very uneven grind. Regardless of setting it grinds a certain amount to fine powder, merely increasing the size of chunks in the mix. This releases all the bitterness from the beans and, combined with the heat generated, kills the finer aromas of the coffee, resulting in a foul tasting, virtually unrecognisable brew. This despite advice in the instructions about too fine a grind releasing bitterness! Additionally, both hoppers being plastic, it's necessary to have the vaccuum cleaner standing by as the static generated when grinding sends grounds flying everywhere. A thoroughly regretted purchase.

Effective and reliable and Good value
This is the second identical model I have had, the last served me well for many years. Amongst all the razzmatazz of coffee making I believe paper filtered is the healthy option and fresh ground makes all the difference. If I leave a few beans in the hopper it is a moments work to grind, amazing, little work, little cleaning needed.

It worked for me
But only for four years, almost to the day. Then the motor started cutting out before the beans were all ground. It can be restarted but only for a few seconds at a time. Eventually it cuts out altogether. I can just about get my own breakfast coffee ground but when there are extra cups on the table it won't do. I'm going to try the Cuisinart model which will still be in guarantee after four years.
People whose machines packed up sooner than mine may have put theirs to more frequent use. Normally I use mine once daily for two measures of beans.
I have not used the grinder for espresso; it has been good for cafetiere coffee.

The switch button loosens after a year or two and there is no way to open the machine to repair it.
Better buy a different machine

useless for cafetiere
fiddly, feels flimsy. Main problem is I prefer to use a cafetiere and the coarsest grind is too fine. My coffee tastes better using my tatty old blade grinder. I would have returned it but I dropped the ground coffee receptacle on a wooden floor - the plastic was so thin a chunk broke off. I regret this purchase.

I am on my third one of these grinders. The grinder produces excellent results for course through to fine ( for espresso ) but the switch is not durable and breaks easily or falls into the housing ( or both). The switch needs redesigning !

The button stopped working.
Bought this for my husband's birthday. The button often refused to turn on and then stopped working altogether after a few months. The coffee always came out too fine, what ever grade it was set at. It was frustrating to use and we bought a hand grinder instead. I think the company need to redesign the on button. It did not live up to expectations.
