Lascelles Radio Controlled Wall Clock, Black

We like it because...

it automatically updates to the accurate time, so you won't over sleep on March 30 for Daylight Savings.

Product information

This bold wall clock features a red case and black Arabic numerals.

A radio controlled clock will ensure you’re never late again. It works by synchronising with a radio transmitter connected to an atomic clock in Anthorn, Cumbria. It will run on its own continuously and check for accuracy at a certain time everyday, which means you’ll never have to prepare for Daylight Savings again; it’ll update automatically.

Q & As

Lascelles Radio Controlled Wall Clock 3.9 5 12 12
Clock A lovely time piece. Friends always comment on it. 18 November 2014
Seduced by technology --- again! Far from spending zero time tending this nice-looking device (though I become increasingly concerned about the authenticity of the numerals, which don't look QUITE right), we have to cajole, change, reset and generally fiddle with it at least twice a week. It may indeed be radio-controlled, but either the controller is psychotic, or more boring but much more likely (as a previous London reviewer mentioned) the signal isn't getting through (we did the experiment of transplanting it to the middle and upper floors of our town house, but its errant ways were clearly stubborn). We've made a couple of errors in appointments through it being an hour or two ahead or behind, but it has recently taken to doing plus or minus 40 minutes, sometimes for a couple of days at a stretch, which fortunately doesn't fool us.The point is, though, that it doesn't really matter whether a kitchen clock is accurate to the nearest millisecond or not (and since digital radio pips are now delayed -- I think, compared with the straightforward VHF signal -- I'm not certain that anyone knows the REAL time any more). Serves me right for thinking that technology is an answer to anything as routine as whether you're going to be 30 seconds too early for an appointment. Watching the hands run round under their own steam is amusing the first time, but its entertainment value palls surprisingly quickly. Re-setting the hands involves poking a pointy thing into the reset button (that's pretty retro itself, actually), holding it there, and doing so for up to 5 minutes. We will keep it as a reminder of the fragility of life and evanescence of technology; but if you live in a built up area and need it to time the school run, I'd stick with that hand-wound carriage clock your dad got as a retirement present in 1977, and still doesn't miss a trick. 19 August 2014
Only lasted 2 years We bought this clock in black and were initially very pleased with it. However after 2 years the minute hand seemed to get stuck and it just jammed up completely so have had to throw it away. 04 June 2014
Perfect Timimg Love the design, quite simple but i'm really pleased with everything about it 11 March 2014
Excellent product. I'm extremely pleased with this purchase - the clock looks very attractive, as well as being an efficient timekeeper. It was very easy to set up, once the battery as inserted. I love it. It's marvellous. 11 March 2014
doesnt work nice looking clock - refuses to pick up a radio signal anywhere in my (London) house. Will try to get it replaced, to see if there's a fault. 26 September 2013
Radio controlled clock in Paris We now have this excellent clock in our kitchen in the UK though it was purchased in London in 2012 from John Lewis for use in Paris on the understanding it could be programmed to French time. However this was not straightforward as once adjusted it reverted to UK time within a day and the makers could not fix this. This problem could have been fixed on current models but as I see this item is available for overseas delivery it would be worth checking. 29 March 2013
Great Looking Clock - it will impress! Fantastic quality, great looking clock - I especially like the radio control feature, no longer have to change the clock for BST! Would recommend to anyone. 10 January 2013
