little home at John Lewis Abbey Elephant Blackout Roller Blinds
Poor quality and instructions
I bought this blind as I absolutely love the print for my little girls room. It didn't say online that it could be cut to size but ordered a bigger one just incase it was and to my delight it said in the side of the box, that it could be, great I thought, however I'm not sure it is!
I followed the cut to size instructions to the letter but things didn't add up. The spring tensioner was already slotted into the metal pole, I only realised when I cut it in half after cutting the metal pole, there were no instructions about removing it before hand, I now have no tension on the blind, it just falls all the way down. The instructions also state to cut the fabric 2cm smaller than the metal tube, I now have 1cm of metal pole showing either side of the blind, which does not look good. The blind was securely stuck on the metal pole so have to pull it off, ripping it slightly to re role it. I followed the instructions but now I am left with a messy, cheap looking blind with horrible, ugly fittings that don't even work! I am going to have to buy curtains and a curtain pole to hide the mess!
If this blind is made to measure the instructions need massively improving, if it isn't made to measure why on earth are there instructions in how to do it!!
One more thing I noticed, there is a stripe across the middle if the blind where the print has not taken!
Lovely print but awful quality product, do not recommend buying it.

I have fitted many roller blinds before and this is the worst one I have used. Poor instructions and the spring mechanism was impossible to tension. I couldn't get more than 3 or 4 turns before it sprung back to the beginning. I fitted it to the brackets (after just 4 turns of the mechanism), operated it just twice and the spring mechanism literally exploded out of the end.

Instructions and product terrible
The product should of been perfect for my new home but the product had one side of the blind not even cut straight and we only noticed that once we had cut the product to size and were cutting down the other side of the material. Also instructions where over complicated and when it told you to cut 2 cm it was too much so we didn't cut the material like it said as it would of been far too much off. So overall instructions made you cut too much off. The instructions where followed to the letter t.

Lovely fabric but poor mechanism
As with others, this blind broke on us within 7 months of installing. Fuming as we've spent money on other items in this range and really want to keep the matching blind. I've tried to fix by buying another spring mechanism from John Lewis but that too was difficult to instal and has just broken. I wish it was just a chain mechanism like other blackout blinds we bought from John Lewis for our son's room which have lasted for years.

Upside down image
I like the design but when my husband went to hang it, we realised that it was upside down, all the elephants were on their backs!
I'm afraid it will have to be returned.

not great quality
Bought this about 18 months ago. Love the fabric and design, however ours too had a poor mechanism which made it difficult to pull and to get to stay in the position you wanted. Wasn't the easiest to put up either and we're pretty handy DIYers, though maybe that was just the awkward window. The mechanism failed completely within 9 months. As we'd bought other furnishings to match we had to take it apart and fix it to a standard roller blind. All in all not a high quality product.

No problems putting up....and we hate DIY!
Husband and I were slightly concerned about buying this blind after reading the reviews, we're useless at DIY and our last attempt at a roller blind led to many hours of frustration!
Anyway, we loved the design so decided to give it a go & less than an hour later we had a fully functioning blind! Very happy with the results, the instructions are quite long but it really is quite straightforward (we didn't attempt cutting to size etc). Only fiddle bit was attaching the cord pull, but once we'd drilled a couple if holes in the base bar it was fine.
Not sure whether the kit has been updated since some if the negative reviews, but it really is not that hard....didn't even need to make a distress call to Dad!!

I read the reviews before purchasing this blind and thought to myself i'll be okay with this, I can make it work. How wrong can I be! I am so disappointed with this blind, it is completely driving me crazy every morning and every evening when I need to open or close it.
I would not recommend this to anyone and I am so disappointed to have purchased it and spending the time to adjust it for my daughters window. Not a good buy, stay clear.
