Lumie Zest Combination SAD and Wake Up to Daylight Light

Product information

Zest is a brand new combination product that functions as a wake up to daylight lamp in the morning and provides bright light therapy when you need it during the day.

For a natural start to the day, use the wake up light features on Zest to select a gradual sunrise lasting 15 or 30 minutes. You can include an alarm beep too if you think you’ll need it. Waking up with light helps to regulate your sleep/wake cycle and has even been shown to boost mood, energy and productivity levels for the rest of the day.

If you’re not getting enough sunlight during the day, a top-up from Zest is a great alternative. Bright light is proven to put you in a better mood, boost alertness and help you feel more awake - you might find as little as 20 minutes is enough to recharge your batteries. In fact, Zest automatically works out treatment time, brightness level and sets the timer for your light therapy so you can be sure you’ve got that right.

The compact design makes Zest suitable for use at home, in the office or to take with you when you’re travelling. Although it’s small, the blue-enriched LEDs ensure it’s an effective treatment for SAD; using it every day over the autumn and winter will make a big difference to symptoms such as tiredness, over-eating and a lack of energy and motivation.

All-in-all, Zest combines the essential features of a both a wake-up light and a light therapy device in one neat product.

Q & As

Rated 3.3 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Unintelligible, and no off button I'm a self-professed geek. This lamp, however, defeated me. There is no logic to its incredibly complicated set-up, all of which btw requires you to look at the back of the lamp, as the multitude of non-tactile illogical buttons give no clue to their functions from the front. So, feeling quite pleased with myself, having finally managed not only to set the time but also set the morning alarm and (I hoped) brightness level of the light, I went to bed. Alas I had an attack of insomnia so decided that I didn't want a sunrise alarm call after all. Not so! In switching off the alarm/sunrise, it switched on the dazzlingly bright daytime clock mode. I thought I must be missing something, as surely a SAD product couldn't have been so badly designed as to interfere with sleep. Sadly ('scuse the pun) I was wrong. The only way to switch the wretched thing off was to unplug it, which instantly lost all the settings I'd spent ages programming. Even the clock. After two more attempts, it was returned. Lumie need some new designers. My Lumie Desklamp is similarly nice idea but badly designed...but at least it's usable (when the switch works). 11 November 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Interesting... This light will not actually wake you up but it can make a difference to how you feel when you do wake up and it is on and shining brightly. I know this is targeted as a SAD lamp however as a "Sunrise" lamp it is very bright. Having said that I am pretty sure this is actually making me feel more awake each morning and better ready to face the day. I have not used it purely as a SAD lamp during the day so can not comment on that. 11 November 2014
