Q & As

Mastrad Silicone Savarin Baking Mould, Dia.26cm 1 5 1 1
Not sure at all My misgivings are with the supplier, not with John Lewis. I made a Waitrose recipe in it and it didn't turn out well (I followed it to the letter#. You'd have thought then that I could, with impunity try the manufacturer's suggested recipes...but no. The packaging promises great things - but the recipe supplied is not suitable for the UK market #barley water is not sirop d'orgeat - and it doesn't state whether the barley water should be diluted or concentrated even - but who would use barley water in a recipe anyway?# Recipes are promised on the website; there's one! And it doesn't work. It's a poor translation. Does the above matter? Yes it does when you are new to cake baking. You'd expect, given the fanfare on the box, that the company would provide a few failsafe recipes. I contacted the company #you can only do this by Facebook. I had the usual glib and hopeless exchange with some robot who eventually suggested I email a colleague - which I did - and had no response. This was then followed by a further fatuous exchange on Facebook. Before giving up I emailed the MD in France to complain. Life's too short! I am going to return the mould and get a refund. Such a shame. I'll try again with traditional mould from the JL range! 02 September 2014
