Good when it works, however... This is a great little device when it works. Unfortunately the first one I had lasted a week before it stopped recognising the keyboard built into the case. The John Lewis Technical Support team told me they had seen four of these problems in that week alone and suggested I got a refund and bought something else! I really like the devise so I took a replacement instead. A couple of months later the new one has started to refuse to reboot and will only do so if completely discharged and charged again. Hardly convenient. The advice from Microsoft support? Send it back and we'll replace it. You won't be surprised to know I'm disappointed. 24 March 2014
Surface Pro 2 - 128GB - Extremely Pleased I did quite a bit of research before buying the Surface Pro 2 and the techy sites seem to have mixed reviews. I am very pleased I took the plunge tough with the Surface Pro 2 turns on in around 5 to 10 seconds and off in around 3 to 5 seconds. Lightning fast and a real pleasure to use. Only con is that the mouse pad on the backlight attachable keyboard bit of a pain when clicking (have to be pretty accurate with the finger press for a click) but I purchased the Arc Mouse (Bluetooth) which is very cool design and functionality is great and easier to use when you are in a bit more of a rush. Even after loading much of the software I will be using on the surface it is much faster than my intel i7 8MB memory laptop by a huge gap. VERY quick. no doubt due to the SSD drive in the Surface. Anyone with a reasonable amount of software to load the extra £80 or so for the 128GB as opposed to the 64GB version is well worth the extra. I thought I might need the 256GB version but at £240 more it was not worth it for me. I have added a 64GB Micro SD for a bit of extra local data storage capacity so I don't over fill the SSD drive. Very pleased with my Surface Pro 2 purchase. Brill! Although I like my iPad mini I mainly ever use for surfing the web hate the email on it far too basic and I don't really see the iPad as a serious work tool. The Surface Pro 2 is a far superior all rounder in my view! 04 February 2014
Bernard85 I am very pleased with my purchase. Although a little heavier than some tablets it's performance is outstanding with it's equivalent power to a windows laptop. The ability to transfer files from my laptop to the tablet and vice versa is a great benefit and is both fast and the screen clarity is excellent 14 January 2014
I love this Full PC in a tablet form. Fast start-up and very reliable for everything I have tried to do so far. Get one if you can and lose the old laptop. 07 January 2014
Top score for Microsoft! At last, Microsoft has produced a top quality product for the Tablet market. This has all the strengths and features of a laptop, but squeezed into Tablet size. Rapid to fire up (20 seconds), surprisingly, loads of Apps to download, easy access to SkyDrive. Windows 8 takes a bit to get used to after using 7, but is largely intuitive. Good battery life (about 8 hours). Not cheap, but a good replacement my aging laptop. 04 December 2013
Best of both worlds I'm extremely glad I made this purchase, despite the high price. I seldom use my pc these days because of the functionality of the Pro 2, yet I feel I'm still playing away with a Tablet. I had a Surface RT before, which was fine, but the limitations of the RT system meant you couldn't run many serious W8 programs. This machine seems to have no limitations. The Pro Pen is fantastic. It allows good accuracy and any handwriting apps are made perfect by the pen. I seldom remove the Touch keyboard because it is a good protective cover and any typing can be done using the full screen view, rather than a chopped-down view for the virtual keyboard. Battery life hasn't been a problem, it lasts all day, typically only down to 50% by bedtime. Cons ? Not many. You have to switch it on each time, rather than it starting up when the cover is opened, like the Surface RT. Start-up is very fast, so no big deal. The biggest problem Microsoft has not overcome is the Windows Store. Some of the Apps are just rubbish and MS do not seem to police them. I mainly use web-pages pinned to the Start menu, rather than using apps, although the apps I wanted were mostly available in the Store. I would definitely recommend this if you use Office type programs and also want the benefit of the fun side of tablets. It is pricey but you certainly get what you pay for. I've had an Android tablet, but using the Surface is a much more complete and professional experience. 26 November 2013
Excellent build quality A well made product. Windows 8 is good but when you get beyond the metro interface and in to the programs proper, it is not so good. Although the screen quality is superb, MS Office, for example, is difficult to use on such a small screen. I t was not easy to use with my hand. The pen is handy, but trying to tap using that is difficult over a sustained period. I don't really see the point and I would recommend a touch enabled ultrabook over this any day. 26 November 2013
Quality piece of kit, a real pc in a small package Really pleased with the quality and speed of the pc, hooked up to a full size monitor and keyboard it is a powerful desktop replacement but unplugged it is tiny and makes you realise how well the "metro" interface can work. It is a little expensive and does need the keyboard to fully realise its potential. Also the supplied pen is a bit hard and skates over the screen rather, I now use a Wacom Pen with a soft nib and it is far better. 128GB seems plenty as long as you use cloud services and a big microsd for video and music etc 24 November 2013
