Featuring multiple positions, the kickstand can be easily adapted to your situation, letting you work comfortably at a desk, browse with ease on the sofa or take in a movie on a plane. You’ll be able to use the Surface Pro 3 all day too, thanks to the battery which can last for up to 9 hours of web browsing. With a resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels, the Surface Pro 3’s 12-inch display squeezes in as many dots as possible to deliver a breathtaking picture. Bright, vibrant and full of details, the Surface Pro 3’s screen is ideal for watching movies and editing images. Touch screen technology will let you get hands on with your apps, while the new Surface Pen delivers the most natural and accurate writing and drawing experience yet, letting you take notes, mark up presentations, sign documents or get creative with art apps.

A Full Suite of Connections
The Surface Pro 3 features the latest technology to help you connect with the rest of your technology. Built-in Wi-Fi that’s compatible with superfast ‘ac’ routers will let you hook up to your home network and browse the internet at your leisure. Bluetooth 4.0 LE will let you wirelessly transfer data and stream media to other Bluetooth devices without draining your battery, while a full size USB 3.0 port and micro SD card slot will let you hook your Surface up to other peripherals and storage devices. You can even connect your Surface Pro 3 to a monitor, TV on projector by using the Mini DisplayPort and a compatible cable.

Surface Pro 3 comes with 128GB of flash storage, however, the system software takes up a significant amount of this, leaving approximately 96GB available for storing your own files and programs.

Surface Pro 3 Great bit of kit used for teaching, providing you with the same capabilities as a laptop and flexibility of a tablet device to roam around. The use of the pen stylus is very useful especially when using MS Onenote and also assists in general navigation when fingertips are not as accurate. The only down side of this device is the camera, you would assume that with a premium product that you would have something that is able to focus and take a clear picture of someones writing or a page of a book, I was hoping to take pictures of students work but the image is not clear enough to do a good job. Its not to say it cant take a picture of a person or of scenery and be adequate. Overall happy with this as it removes the need to have multiple devices. 20 January 2015
very versatile and easy to adapt to This laptop was bought in view that I would use it for work and for my part time masters course. PROS - one note and I can write anything that will be converted into text. in multi font and thickness and can sketch using the pen too. No other laptop/tablet on the market has a pen/digitiser that has this much sensitivity. -One note allows you to have a lines, plain, square, graph paper or customized back ground. - great sound and graphics -doing online shopping is a breeze -sharing work, storing it and working on multiple software is a quick and seamless -The screen is smaller than a laptop but bigger than a tablet to allow multi use. -the keyboard lights up in the dark and although sold separately is comfortable and both the screen and keyboard has multi angle movement for comfort. Using the key board you can do everything that you could on a laptop and more - using the tablet mode is great because the screen is sensitive enough to pick up every move, yet you can rest your palm on it when writing and it wont mark or affect the screen. Excellent for someone that wants to type letters but prefers to write them. CONS: The keyboard is sold separately, - The memory it uses id ssd which is solid state so it is expensive but makkes the unit lighter. - no optical drives - plus because it make the unit lighter but minus if you have old software that you need to install. You have to search for online digital colpies or contact manufacturer which is time consuming. - no where to attach pen - surface 2 had office included - the hard drive is not expandable or upgradable finally I have given this a 5* rating because I have searched multiple brands and nothing can touch this product for what it offers. Unless a similar competitive item is release for same /less price with more memory and windows included, this seals the deal for me :) 09 December 2014
Very pleased Works well as both a Laptop and a tablet. You can install 'legacy' software if you wish from an external device such as a USB stick. I installed Microsoft Office XP, as I purchased the full version years ago and do not feel the need to upgrade it yet. If you use a windows phone the surface can sync your contacts and calendar. All my settings from my desktop pc were applied to the surface automatically, so I did not have to waste a day setting everything up how I like it. Files can be saved to the One drive, so they are useable from the surface, phone and desktop pc in the office, very handy. Very few negatives - the type cover should be included in the bundle as there would be no point buying this device without it and an extra USB port or two would be useful, although you can work around this. I really wouldn't bother with an iPad or small laptop now. 30 November 2014
Really does offer laptop capabilities in a tablet. I mainly use Apple laptops and iPads but I was really interested in the 'pen' function of the Surface for some work projects. It's great for annotating documents. Good battery life. It has an integral on screen keyboard but adding a keyboard is easier for creating documents such as word when you have a lot to key in or want a larger screen. 18 November 2014
Great product, but unreliable For my needs, the basic premise of this product is perfect - one device for tablet and for pc. I personally like windows 8.1 (tho it only really works with a touchscreen in my view), and find it pretty robust. It's a bit large for a tablet, but for me that's a small sacrifice for the flexibility. It's a superb laptop - fast, great screen. For some users it'll be too small, but it does the job for me. The pen works superbly -accurate and really makes the touchscreen viable. The keyboard is brilliant - backlight, accurate, really nice feel. The keypad isn't bad, and isn't often that necessary even for those who don't like it. So why one star? Well, the battery life is pretty rubbish really. With fairly light use I could rely on about 3 hours. Bluetooth is amazingly unreliable. These lose it a couple of stars. But the real deal-breaker was that after 3 days fairly light use, it stopped working. There are a lot of reports and advice on the web about fixing this. The soft reset didn't work, and the next fix would involve plugging in. Given the evident number of people suffering with this, it means I really can't rely on it to work as a portable device. I fear that Microsoft have finally blown it for me with this product. As ever JLP staff were brilliant, and gave me an immediate refund and a sincere apology. 12 November 2014
The good, the bad and the ugly... /// The Good: /// + Super fast sleep/shutdown/restart - when it works (more on that later). + The battery life is now acceptable (could be better but what a difference to the original Pro). T + The screen size is an improvement. I thought I would not like the aspect ratio as prefer wider screen but it actually works very well. + Surface Pro 3 is much slimmer and feels good to hold/use. + The kickstand is a vast improvement; + The digital pen’s accuracy is an improvement (often a huge frustration on the original). + Overall I feel the keyboard is very good, it is backlit and responsive. /// The Bad: /// - Not much here! - As I previous mentioned the keyboard is good, but when attached to the screen at an angle it hinders the gestures. It is a real frustration in practice /// The Ugly: /// The hardware is great and even impressive, but all of this means absolutely nothing if the software is lacking and certainly unacceptable if it is unreliable. I actually like the Win8 gestures, I now prefer it to any others out there, I can even live with some of the confusion within the OS (both of them!) and I can work around some of the inconsistencies. However, such a product needs to be rock solid; the software has to be reliable. Not crash randomly in the middle of meeting while you are trying to take notes (or presenting) or the Pen decides to ink all over the screen and it needs a restart, or it does not restart and needs a forced shutdown. I could go on but it is rather pointless, this is nothing new but it is such a shame that Microsoft just cannot seem to get this right. By the way I have purchase 3 Surface Pros (for work) and all have similar issues, but I am still using mine despite the issues, as I would love this to work (eventually). The issue for Microsoft is that even people like me are thinking we need to call it a day with them. In short, you will like the good and may tolerate the bad, but can you handle the ugly? Thank you 27 October 2014
