It even wakes up instantly when you say, ‘Xbox On’.

Getting started...

The first thing you’ll need to do is set-up your console. This will include:

  • Selecting your language, location and time zone
  • Setting your display settings
  • Managing your privacy settings
  • Setting up Kinect (optional)
  • Signing in using your Microsoft account

As part of this process you will need to connect your Xbox One to the internet and run a one-time system update. This update is required in order to use your Xbox One for the first time. Once completed you will be able to play any disc based game without ever connecting online again.

The system update will restart your Xbox One upon completion. After the console restarts, you can continue with set-up. Should you require support at any stage of this process please visit

Once you complete the last step of the set-up and sign-in process, you will be taken to the Xbox One Home screen. From here you can continue personalising your console and start installing your first game.

Q & As

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Brilliant gaming system Really fast, excellent graphics. Easy to use, better than PS 25 March 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by A worthy successor, with a few flaws. I had an xbox 360 since launch, and arguably, it is the best console I have ever owned. I was not planning to jump on the xbox one bandwagon this generation, and purchased a PS4. But after seeing gameplay of Ryse and the upcoming Titanfall, went ahead. The console itself is beautifully crafter and I really like the controller. This is my first experience with Kinect, and although not perfect, it is a lot more responsive than the Playstation 4s camera. Games are fantastic, although I have only purchased Ryse and BF4 so far. I am planning to get Titanfall this Friday, as the beta was amazing. The million dollar question is, however, should you get the xbox one over the PS4. This question has been debated to death. The xbox one, whilst a good console, does have some hardware flaws. I have often been presented with a black screen after pressing the him button, more than a few times. This is an issue Microsoft are aware of. I have also been told to "plug in my Kinect", when it is already in, which is a little annoying. A restart normally fixes this. But all in all, I am very happy with the xbox one. I am a huge fan of the achievement system, and look forward to many more years of xbox gaming. I can see myself preferring multi format releases for the PS4 (i.e. Metal Gear), but will definitely not be abandoning the xbox one, due to the many exclusives. If you liked the xbox 360, you will definitely not be disappointed with the xbox one. 12 March 2014
