Miele S8310 Power Plus Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner, Obsidian Black
Our 20plus year old Miele was a bit battered and tho still working thought would replace with this new one and not disappointed. It seems lighter, and has brilliant adjustable suction on all surfaces. (Don't be put off by description which says only 1 position). We have wood, tiled, carpets and rugs, and good on all and compact to store. Dont hesitate to buy.

Excellent product at a reasonable price
I bought this after checking the Which? recommended list and have been very happy with the choice. It's an excellent well built product, as you would expect from Miele. Plenty of suction, most of our floors are hard so no problem there, but there are 6 power options in total to accommodate soft furnishings, carpets etc. The hose and lead are long so stairs aren't a problem and it's light enough to move around. I haven't bought new bags yet but understand that bagged vacuums are better for retaining the dust they suck up so switched from our ancient Dyson on that basis.

In a word... Amaze
The well known bagless vacuum hose broke and I was really fed up with seeing my own dirt, dust in the cleaner - so I brought this Miele. Should had brought one years ago. Don't mind paying for the dust bags as the dust filtration system is very good. All in all a very good buy.

This has to be the best purchase in a very long time.
Beyond brilliant, you will be surprised, the dyson has been put away for good!

This is so powerful I can't use it on any of the higher settings! I have to use the upholstery setting - second lowest - just to be able to push it across the floor. And even that's an effort...
I wanted something with better suction than my old Sebo that was 1800 watts, and had become pretty weak, so I thought this would do the job. Wrong! I could easily have chosen a smaller one and would not have bought this if I tried it first.
So be warned, unless you have a good reason to buy such a powerful vacuum, or have hard floors, it worked well on my wood floor, then think twice. It's a workout to vacuum, and I'm worried that it might even damage the carpet.
Two stars because its well built.

A vacuum with va-va-voom
Oh, the relief of having a vacuum cleaner that actually sucks up dirt! I got so fed up with my previous machine, a Dyson Animal, I actually threw it in a skip. (Extravagant, I know, because I could have traded it in. But it gave me great pleasure...) This Miele is a joy - only mild criticism is that the bag fills up really quickly. My house must be filthy!
We have a Hetty as well, which is invaluable for cleaning fireplaces and dusting, especially if you're doing any DIY. But while the Hetty/Henry can cope really well with hard surfaces, it doesn't clean carpets or rugs nearly as well as this machine.
I bought this after seeing it recommended by Which? and I would heartily recommend it to anyone with pets/teenagers/young children/partners who eat while watching the telly.

This vaacuum cleaner is superb. Build quality is excellent and the suction is amazing. Best vacuum I've ever owned. Definitely value for money even with the cost of the bags.

I have two cats and didn't realise how much fur was stuck in my carpet. One clean with this vacuum has changed the colour of my carpet. It's amazing!
