We love our new kettle but, on the basis of others' reviews, maybe we should reserve judgement for a while and see what it looks like/how it performs in a year's time.
I have to confess I'm really frustrated at the generally poor build quaity of something that is supposed to withstand several-times-a-day use. The Panasonic kettle we bought from JL is leaking after less than 12months and cost far more than this one! Seems manufacturers are taking us all for mugs - after all, if you purposely build for failure after 12-18 months, customers are forced to shell out again aren't they? Wouldn't be a conscious decision now would it....?

Our old kettle (a Tefal) was over 10 yrs old but we wanted appliances to match new decor so bought this kettle and the toaster to match.
Kettle has failed just after 24 months. Unrepairable as the element and kettle base are integrated. Will probably buy another Tefal but definately not Morphy Richards.
Toaster is poor as well. Better leaving the bread in the sun, I think it would be quicker. Should have read the reviews!!

I also have this kettle which is unsafe to use because of the water leaking from it onto the base, although I am taking precautions until i get a new kettle. Some of the paint by the water indicator has also blistered and come off revealing the chrome underneath. It is so dissapointing because I also have the 4 slice toaster and they look so nice together. I am so cross about it and rang Morphy Richards to complain, (should have done it weeks ago) they told me i should be descaling it every few weeks or at least every month if living in a hard water area, as it is the limescale build up that causes the seals to open up. Well they don't tell you that in the literature do they! I am unhappy because i either buy a whole new package or replace the kettle for the same model which i don't feel inclined to do. Would have been better had I have had a receipt to prove when it was purchased.

Really loved the colour and design but totally disappointed in the reality - the coloured finish has worn very badly and within less than one year was very shabby am now looking for a replacement

I have recently purchased your Morphy Richards Kettle & Toaster set in Copper. I am extremely pleased with the goods, the service and the value. I compared various retailers before I purchased them but none came up with your great value and guarantee. I would definitely shop with you again. Many thanks. Ms S Bullivant.

I bought a Morphy Richards, relying on their reputation and long history of making electrical appliances. How wrong I was - I now realise that I have paid for the name only!
As other reviewers have stated, it has leaked from the water indicator, the paint finish is just a film rather than a layer. The lid is not designed to be removed without a wrench, I personally will never buy another Morphy Richards appliance.
A sign of the times? I had to have my Dualit toaster replaced within months of purchase. I admit that replacement is great - BUT I should not have had to complain in the first place.

We love our new kettle, had had a look around the shops and loved the style of it, then ordered it from the John Lewis website as they did it in the colour we wanted. Looks good in the kitchen, it's stylish and makes a nice cuppa!
