Neptune Suffolk 6-10 Seater Rectangular Extending Dining Table
High quality and extremely versatile
I've waited a few months since purchase to write this review as I held some of the concerns of a previous reviewer when it first arrived but having just got through a busy Christmas in perfect condition I can thoroughly recommend it.
The product itself oozes quality and style, a lovely addition to our older property and helps to create a traditional feel in the dining room. The 'standard' setup is for 4 people (6 if you count the ends) and could easily be regarded as a small-medium size dining table at its smallest setting.
In a smaller room it offers the perfect versatility. As a couple, we have it at its smallest at all times unless we have guests and it doesn't dominate a room. You can add one extra leaf for 2 more people or two leaves for 4 more people. These are easily stored in the table when not used and come with a scratch resisting protective cover.
The table comfortably seats 10 when needed and stretches out considerably from smallest to largest size.
There is a concern over the finish of the tabletop which feels very high quality but requires quick cleaning after any spillages. I wouldn't want to risk leaving stains more than a couple of hours. That being said we had plenty of spillages at Christmas that were quickly wiped up and there is no sign of them now.
We're very pleased with this purchase and would most recommend it to those looking for an attractive table that offers the flexibility to seat 4-10 in rooms that are not suited to permanently large tables.

Love love love this table. Looked at other reviews and yes I guess it will mark with time but I think it will only add to the look of the whole thing. Not being to precious with it,as it is the family kitchen table. Now want the chairs to match!!!

The table itself is attractive and well-styled, and for us the size and versatile extension system were perfect. But within a day or two it became clear that the oil treatment designed to protect the table top was inadequate and we began to notice marks - even though we were quick to clear up and none of the spills were bad. We thought this might have been an isolated problem and requested an exchange, but when the replacement table arrived it had a crack in the wood at one corner and a split along the grain in another place. We liked the overall look, style and size of the table so much we were planning to ask for another replacement, but again, the surface itself did not seem well finished and even a small water spill left a mark. Although John Lewis customer services were brilliant (as always) our contact with Neptune customer care did not reassure us that the table would be robust enough to warrant the very expensive price tag and sadly, we have decided to return the table for a refund.
