Product information

A brilliant way to shoot unforgettable high-definition photos and movies, this small and lightweight 24.2-megapixel D-SLR is powerful, comfortable to carry around, and incredibly simple to operate. The large image sensor captures the finest details and superior low-light performance frees you to shoot crystal-clear images in low light.

24.2MP CMOS sensor
Specifically designed without an optical low-pass filter (OLPF), the D3300’s image sensor makes the most of its 24.2-megapixel resolution to sharply capture even the finest textures and render images with incredibly crisp detail.

Full HD video
Use the camera’s D-Movie function to make movies you’ll be proud of. You can record sharp Full HD (1080p) video clips in any light at frame rates up to 50p/60p with continuous autofocus, meaning you get smooth recordings of even fast-moving action, plus a remarkable level of sharpness and clarity.

LCD screen & optical viewfinder
As easy to shoot with as a compact camera or smartphone by using the large 3-inch LCD monitor to capture photos and movies. For perfectly framed portraits and long shots, there’s the optical viewfinder.

Fast autofocus
An 11-point autofocus system with a cross-type sensor in the centre will quickly lock onto your subject and keep it in sharp focus whether it’s off-centre, moving fast, or it’s completely unpredictable.

Special effects
With 13 different effects like panorama and colour pop to choose from, the D3300 makes it easy to add a touch of artistry to your photos and movies. Simply select Effects Mode and choose the option you want to apply before shooting.

Straightforward control
Access D-Movie and Live View via dedicated one-touch buttons. Use the i button on the back of the camera to bypass the camera’s main menu and quickly change settings while you shoot. When shooting with the viewfinder, you can choose between a classic interface and a graphic interface that animates settings, so it’s easier to see what you’re doing.

Lenses & Cases
One of the biggest advantages of this camera is the sheer shooting flexibility on offer. You can use additional lenses to take wide-angle, telephoto, or close-up shots to suit just about any situation. The shorter the focal length (measured in mm), the wider the view will be – the longer the focal length, the more telescopic the picture. With a selection of interchangeable lenses at your disposal, the creative possibilities are endless. Click here to browse our selection.

Q & As

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 22 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very good quality and value Having researched about DSLR/Bridge cameras, I selected the Nikon D3300 as it specifically meet my needs for high quality landscape photography as well as normal pictures. Other cameras were good at long zoom levels and sports pictures, and whilst this camera is good for those to, the high level pixels and depth of sharpness meet my needs. The camera is very well made and the features are easy to understand. The in-built Guide Mode is extremely useful as some cameras guide book is online whish is very unhelpful! Great all round product and would recommend it to others. 09 April 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product Really easy to use and takes excellent photographs 05 April 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by good quality DSLR for beginner Really easy to use for beginners. I like the interface that I find quite intuitive. Good quality product. 09 March 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good all-rounder This is the first DSLR camera I've bought and I would say it's very user friendly. The variety of autophoto options is fantastic for a novice such as myself and work very well. Setting are easy to change and the interface is simple to understand. Shutter sound is a little loud but other than that I'm extremely happy with this product and would recommend for any first timer's to the world of DSLR's 08 March 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Product Details Misleading This was my first DSLR camera purchase and in general I am very happy with this camera and the value for money from John Lewis. However potential buyers beware, at time of writing, the desciption of the product above is incorrect. What you will actually receive with your camera is the brand new AF-P 18-55 lens kit. Normally I would be delighted at receiving a newly released product, but it is so new I cannot find any Professional reviews that compare the new AF-P lens with the current AF-S lens. Nikon's literature states it has quieter and faster focusing, but what I really would like to know is how it compares optically. 03 March 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent DSLR for Beginners Buying a DSLR is just as confusing as buying a new HD TV.... Nikon or Canon? Samsung or Panasonic? I bought Nikon D3300 and haven't been disappointed. I am a complete amateur but have spent the time watching and reading many reviews for which to buy. My budget was very restricted as the D3300 was the best option for me. Easy to use, great image quality and not too confusing to use. I would highly recommend. 16 February 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Impressive This camera lives up to my expectations and more. It's a wee bit complex until you get used to it but the end result is excellent, even on full AUTO mode. So far so good, no issues at all. 16 February 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent value-for-money camera This is an excellent DSLR camera. Haven't explored all the options and functions on it yet - feels like its capabilities are many and varied. Really good quality photographs and HD video. And not too heavy to carry around. 26 January 2016
