Product information

Packing high-end image technologies into a surprisingly portable body, the D7000 marks a new era in creative flexibility. Sturdy enough to travel anywhere and powerful enough to handle any situation, its range of advanced features will satisfy any photographer ready to further their skills, with an impressive 16.2 megapixel image sensor ensuring exceptionally detailed results.

Key benefits:

  • If you live life in a hurry you’ll appreciate the near-instant start-up time and approx. 0.052-second shutter-release time lag, as well as the ability to capture fast-moving action at six frames per second.
  •

  • The high ISO (100-6400) light sensitivity - manually extendable up to 25600 using the Hi2 setting - enables faster shutter speeds for finely detailed images with minimal noise, when you shoot fast-moving subjects or take pictures in low light. It also features an Auto ISO setting.
  •

  • The razor-sharp 39-point Autofocus system has nine cross-type sensors in the centre, offering fast and precise autofocus coverage across the frame. Four AF-area modes, including 3D-tracking AF, deliver sharp results, whether your subject is off-centre, moving fast or completely unpredictable.
  •

  • Twin SD memory card slots allow for enhanced shooting flexibility. You can use the second card when the first is full, or record stills on one and movies on another. The D7000 is also SDXC compatible.
  •

  • A 2,016 pixel RGB metering sensor delivers highly accurate metering for exact exposures and provides precise data to the camera's Scene Recognition System, which optimizes exposure, autofocus and white balance immediately before the shutter is released for sharply defined images.

A built-in HDMI connector makes it easy to watch your photos and movie clips on an HD ready TV. Simply connect a compatible HDMI cable (sold separately) between your camera and the TV.

  • Feeling creative?

One of the biggest advantages of SLR digital cameras is the sheer shooting flexibility they offer. You can use various additional lenses to take wide-angle, telephoto, or close-up shots, to shoot a wide variety of subjects. The shorter the focal length (measured in mm), the wider the view will be – the longer the focal length, the more telescopic the picture. With a selection of interchangeable lenses at your disposal, the creative possibilities are endless.

Why not take a look at our range of additional SLR lenses?

Note: Please check the compatibility of the lens with your camera.

Nikon D7000 Digital SLR Camera with 18-105mm VR Lens 4.8 5 5 5
Excellent camera, but take care of the lens Having been a Nikon pro equipment user in years gone by, I purchased a D7000 body and lens kit from John Lewis for casual use. Having used it for over a year, I am delighted with the performance, except for one key area - the build quality of the 18-105mm lens. The D7000 body feels very solid and functionality is great. The HD video is good quality, although frame speeds are limited, which is a bit frustrating. When shooting stills however, the Nikon is at its best and considering the price, I have been delighted with the results. The image quality, even when pushing the ISO in low light, is excellent, while navigating the various menus is simplicity itself. The two memory card slots are also a really nice touch, especially as you can program them to perform diffident roles. The one gripe however, is the 18-105 VR lens. The optics aren't too bad, but the build quality isn't good and the inner locating ring is made a plastic - why Nikon? Thought it might be an issue after using it for a few months and sure enough one day the lens simple fell off in my hand. It had to be sent to Nikon for repair and because they won't accept it is a design fault and purely down to user 'mis-use', it is not covered by warranty and you have to pay for the repair. Consequently, I have since replaced the lens with a better one - complete with a metal locating ring. Much more secure, but Nikon, you really need to sort this out because talking to other VR 18-105 owners, they have had the same issue and frankly I expect more from Nikon. If you don't change the lens very often - and I imagine many users will stick to primarily using this otherwise good quality and versatile zoom lens - then it shouldn't be an issue. Otherwise, it is likely to be a breakage waiting to happen. However, overall, the camera itself is an excellent piece of kit and well worth the money if you are looking for a good quality enthusiast DSLR at a very reasonable price. 06 February 2013
Just what I expected! I'd read a lot of DSLR reviews and the Nikon D7000 always comes out tops for this particular price range. I am now delving into the amazing functionality and picture power of this powerful camera. The build quality is solid and pleasing to the grip, the supplied lens is a great starter, the supplied manual is excellently written and thorough. The first set of pictures I have taken so far are better than I had imagined. Nice to be able to pick up from my local John Lewis store rather than order on line and be at home for the delivery. 05 January 2012
Fantastic camera I'm new to digital photography but have a lot of experience of film photography. I bought the Nikon D7000 as the spec looked very comprehensive, although I was concerned about the complexity, never having used a Nikon before. The camera is nothing short of fantastic and whilst it is a little heavier than it's smaller cousins it feels so solid and good thanks to the improved grip. The camera itself takes fantastic shots even with the kit lens and I'm finding it easy to learn the different controls. It has a fantastic range of in camera processing capabilities which I'm still playing with. It's such great fun and has reignited my interest in photography. I find the horizon in the camera very useful and it cuts down on post processing. I do miss the split screen focussing but this seems to have been dropped in all modern cameras! I wear glasses for reading and was worried about the small top screen but it can be shown on the main display which is a great feature. I recommend this camera for any enthusiastic amateur who knows a bit about photography or even to a new starter who wants to learn as it looks to me as though it will be more than enough of a camera for me as I develop further with it without the need to further upgrade. Happy snapping! 18 December 2011
top of it's class If you are looking to move up the digital single lens reflex ladder (DSLR) this will take you pretty high. Although not quiet in the pro league, its magnesium body gives it a bit of weight yet it’s still great to handle. The superb lens, Auto Focus System, and video recording are the stand out qualities, sharp images, fast shooting and 1080p high definition all in one camera. 26 June 2011
Wonderful piece of technology to hold I have used this on many trips abroad. Just amazing to hold and take photograph. Very user friendly though very high tech. In the beginning weight was a bit problem. I got used to it. Even I can't believe some of my own photos. 24 June 2011
