Product information

Packing high-end image technologies into a surprisingly portable body, the D7100 marks a new era in creative flexibility. Sturdy enough to travel anywhere and powerful enough to handle any situation, its range of advanced features will satisfy any photographer ready to further their skills, with an impressive 24.1 megapixel image sensor ensuring exceptionally detailed results.

Key benefits:

  • The D7100 employs an image sensor unit designed without an optical low-pass filter to take full advantage of the high resolution achieved by its high pixel count. This image sensor unit maximizes the resolving power of 24.1 megapixels and NIKKOR lenses, bringing sharp, clear rendering of delicate details of your subjects.
  • The high ISO (100-6400) light sensitivity - manually extendable up to 25600 using the Hi2 setting - enables faster shutter speeds for finely detailed images with minimal noise, when you shoot fast-moving subjects or take pictures in low light. It also features an Auto ISO setting.
  • The D7100 comes equipped with a 51-point AF system that covers a wide area with high density. In the 1.3x crop of DX mode, the 51 focus points cover almost its entire image area, attaining extremely high subject capturing power. The center focus point is compatible with AF at f/8. By pairing this lightweight, compact body, unique to DX formats, with a teleconverter, you can pack light but still enjoy super-telephoto AF shooting.
  • Twin SD memory card slots allow for enhanced shooting flexibility. You can use the second card when the first is full, or record stills on one and movies on another. The D7100 is also SDXC compatible.
  • The D7100's Full HD video has two movie image areas based on DX and 1.3x crop of DX. The DX-based movie format produces high-definition movies, maximizing the advantage of the 24.1 megapixels. In movie image area based on 1.3x crop of DX, the angle of view becomes equivalent to around 2.0x lens focal length for greater detail.
  • A built-in HDMI connector makes it easy to watch your photos and movie clips on an HD ready TV. Simply connect a compatible HDMI cable (sold separately) between your camera and the TV.
  • Feeling creative?

One of the biggest advantages of SLR digital cameras is the sheer shooting flexibility they offer. You can use various additional lenses to take wide-angle, telephoto, or close-up shots, to shoot a wide variety of subjects. The shorter the focal length (measured in mm), the wider the view will be – the longer the focal length, the more telescopic the picture. With a selection of interchangeable lenses at your disposal, the creative possibilities are endless.

Why not take a look at our range of additional SLR lenses?

Note: Please check the compatibility of the lens with your camera.

  • Includes battery, charger, body cap, hot shoe cover, strap and NX2 software.

Q & As

Rated 5 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Good Buy Purchased D7100 as a replacement for my now ageing D90. Good value for the price, suspect this is due the coming announcement of the D7200. Having said that, it is an excellent camera a definite improvement on the D90. It took me quite a wile to get my head around all the operations, and still learning. Picture metering and focus quality a leap forward in quality from the D90. Certainly recommend this camera. For existing Nikon DX users, bonus in being able to use your existing lenses. 03 March 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent bit of kit I've had the D7100 for a few weeks now, upgraded from a D90 and the step up is huge, e.g - I've managed some great star photography and the higher ISO settings have far less noise than I was expecting. The larger MP count makes a great difference when it comes to cropping images, especially on landscapes. 17 June 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by As good as it gets I should add "without paying silly money" to the title.I traded up from a very capable Nikon D90 and have not been disappointed. I needed a camera with good low light capability to see me through a winter, mostly twilight, cruise to the Arctic, and this camera didn't disappoint. I came back with clear, sharp, detailed, pictures which wouldn't have been possible on my excellent D90 so the upgrade was well worth it. Other changes like the weatherproofing, more robust design and twin card slots all proved invaluable, and this camera really feels like it should last. I mostly used it with the excellent Nikon 28 - 200 zoom lens and this made for a killer combination. 4 second exposures at 1am, iso 6400, from a moving ship were no problem on a tripod and have given me a lifetimes memories of the Northern Lights. The "expert" advice from professional Aurora hunters that I had previously read said that this would be impossible. It wasn't for the D7100. Normal daylight pictures were also faultless and a clear improvement over my D90 26 April 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Camera! Superb build quality. Fantastic image quality. Intuitive to use. Would definitely recommend. 23 April 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Simply excellent I upgraded from D80 to D7100 and it was really worth it. This camera is really nice and Nikon has done lots of upgrade. I can comfortably click on ISO 1600 or 3200 as well. The auto white balance is very powerful and responds well to the settings. I prefer clicking in manual mode and hence loved the response to settings this camera provides. I am pleased to have bought this from John Lewis and would happily recommend this to anyone. 06 December 2013
