Q & As

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 27 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good portrait lens The f1.8 aperture is great for portraits where you want your subject in focus and you don't want the background being a potential distraction. The wide aperture has enabled me to rely less on the necessity to use a flash. The auto focus works so well that I can't better it by manually adjustment. The lens is also good for landscape work provided that you don't require a wide angle of view. A cheaper option might be to use one of your old analogue camera lens with a suitable adaptor, but you will never get it to focus to infinity (without an additional corrective lens), the auto focus function is obviously defunct and accurate manual focussing is problematic. So my advice would be go for a purpose built lens, like this. I use this lens with my Nikon D3200 and it is, arguably, the best auto lens I have. 18 August 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Saulius If you need really good and sharp images indoor in dark without flash, this lens is perfect for this price. Outside as well. Even not beginners love this lens for this quality and cheap price. I don't want to remove it anymore. Lens for all life events. 13 July 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perhaps the only lens you need Bar a telephoto and dedicated macro, this lens is really fantastic. Quick and quiet it's great for video, and considering the ability of software to stitch photos together to build panoramas, a wider angle lens isn't really that necessary. 16 June 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Bright Lens Lovely lens that gets you thinking even more about composition as you can't change the focal length, and because it is so bright with the f1.8 you notice so much more in the viewfinder. Great for indoors and other low light subjects, and basically winter days where there is less light anyway. Bokan effects wonderful too due to narrow depth of field. Should have got one sooner..! 01 February 2015

Rated 5 out of 5 by Superb lens for low light This is the perfect lens for taking those family pictures when there is little sunlight. You have to learn to master the aperture settings to ensure the foreground is in focus. Also Nikon supplied a £20 debit card promotion in a very fast time. 12 August 2014
