Nikon DX 35mm f/1.8G AF-S Standard Lens
Best lens for everyday photos
Just a great fast 35 mm lens that's ideal for portraits etc and especially good for indoor pictures thanks to the 35 mm auto focus .

Great for indoor photography
I bought this lens for mainly taking shots indoors as the lens captures more natural light than the standard lens you get when buying the DSLR. Of course there are no options to zoom in or out as it's static lens and you will find you need some distant if your wanting to capture a full bodied photo. But when I compared the photos with out using a flash with the standard 18-55mm lens there really was no contest. For the price of the lens too you are really getting a bargain.

Every Photographer should have one!
I had been looking for a light, fast, standard lens for low light situations to use with my Nikon D300.To be honest I dismissed this lens, as I thought that at this price it's got to be cheap and nasty . So I bought a Sigma 35 mm 1.4f at nearly twice the price , but when I used it for the first time the AF was out by a few mm ! I was told by the retailer that the lens and camera would need to be sent to Sigma to be calibrated so I decided to get a full refund instead and go for a Nikon lens.
I wish I had just got this lens in the first place as it's fast at 1.8f, well made, light weight and small in dimensions. I would not hesitate to give this five stars together with John Lewis. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Essential Lens for Nikon DX Owners
This is a fast, light, inexpensive normal lens for Nikon's DX cameras, especially for use in low-light without flash. For the price you simply can't go wrong, especially since it has a metal mount and an rubber gasket to keep out dust. Very lightweight but well built despite its mostly plastic construction. Auto focus is very fast and quiet and the images produced are sharp and contrasty. I have noticed some distortion in close range shots but not to the extent that the images are unusable. This is a small lens which looks a little lost on my D300. I use this lens far more often than I anticipated simply because it is so good, great for low light inddor work where you don't want to use flash. Highly recommended.

High quality general purpose lens.
This lens is designed for the smaller sensors now used on the majority of digital SLRs, and so gives a field of view approximating to the old normal standard of approximately 50mm focal length. This lens can be left on the camera as an alternative to the 'kit' lens that might have come with the camera, but with no zoom the photographer has to move to fill the frame. It is light, lets in much more light (f1.8) and much better corrected for distortion across the frame than any zoom. The loss of a star is only because of the plastic construction - so don't drop it!
