Olympus OM-D E-M5 Compact System Camera with 12-50mm Lens, HD 1080p, 16.1MP, 3” OLED Screen

Product information

Combining stylish retro looks and rugged magnesium alloy construction, the Olympus E-M5 looks every bit as good as it performs. It also features advanced image stabilisation for sharper movies and stills, while an electronic viewfinder gives you total control over your shoots. Built to be splash and dustproof - it’s even ready to take incredible professional grade photos in the toughest conditions.

Key benefits:

  • The 16.1 megapixel Live MOS sensor and TruePic VI image processor team up to give you stunning images with enough quality for detailed enlargements. Colours are more vibrant, noise is reduced and contrasts are richer for sharper shots every time.
  • With the world’s fastest autofocus system and a super-fast nine frames per second shooting speed you’ll capture even the fastest moving action in beautiful detail.
  • The included 12-50mm lens lets you take sharp portraits and dazzling landscapes with ease. Being a compact systems camera, you can choose from a whole range of lens for any situation.
  • Five-axis image stabilisation gives you razor sharp stills and video when you’re on the go. Spend less time worrying about irritating photo blur and take the pictures that you really want!
  • Full HD video and stereo sound makes all of your videos shine on the big screen.
  • Bright and sharp, the 3-inch OLED screen makes it easy to take pictures from any angle. Along with an electronic viewfinder, you’ll have total control to get exactly the shots you want.

Feeling creative?
One of the biggest advantages of this camera is the sheer shooting flexibility on offer. You can use various additional lenses to take wide-angle, telephoto, or close-up shots, to shoot a wide variety of subjects. The shorter the focal length (measured in mm), the wider the view will be – the longer the focal length, the more telescopic the picture. With a selection of interchangeable lenses at your disposal, the creative possibilities are endless.

Why not take a look at our range of additional lenses? Note: Please check the compatibility of the lens with your camera.

Excellent I have owned this camera for 2 years now and apart from my current full frame camera it is the best so far, well deserving of the press and industry awards. One thing tho, if you are blessed with fingers that resemble pork sausages you may find it takes a bit longer to get used to the small buttons. Because of it's small size you are able to carry a number of lenses around with ease. If you are a dedicated hobbyist, then do yourself a big favour Do Not buy the 14-50mm kit lens, instead go for the 12-40mm f2.8 lens, more expensive but you get what you pay for and after that go for the 45mm f1.8 , you won't regret it, and don't forget a good lens will last you 30 years. I am about to move up to the OMD em-1 I wouldn't be doing that if I didn't rate Olympus and I will still keep the omd em-5. 13 November 2014
The olympus OMD E-M5. Fabulous micro4/3 camera Having looked at various compact system cameras I finally decided on the Olympus OMD. Being an amateur enthusiast I wanted a camera that would suit my various needs, from taking photographs of our grandchildren to a small amount of street photography. This camera suits in every way. The auto focus is lightening fast and with continuous shooting at nine frames per second even the fastest child is caught in minute sharpness. The lens which came with this camera is ideal for movie making with the ability to have electronic zoom. All in all I am delighted with this camera and would highly recommend it as a go anywhere must. 16 April 2014
Amazing bit of kit if you are like me and love taking photos but hate carrying DSLRs this is a game changing bit of kit. Easily DSLR quality with an amazing range of lenses to add to your collection 20 September 2013
Brilliant!! Ive looked for a DSLR type camera for years but only purchased this recently after reading multiple reviews and noticing it has won Camera of the year in various publications. This camera is known as a micro four thirds camera, basically it is smaller than your normal standard sized and full frame DSLR cameras but dont let its diminutive size trick you into thinking that it is a toy, this is a quality alloy built tool. It can produce amazing images. I have read that certain people struggle with the smaller sized buttons (I have medium to large hands and haven't ) but if you go in store and can check it out for yourself. People in reviews always try and compare the OMD to full frame cameras something I find totally unfair as these systems are twice the price!!. Prices of lenses for this system also seem to be more affordable and Olympus have brought out some excellent Prime Lenses. Im glad I bought into this system I think if Id bought something larger I definitley wouldn't have used it half as much. If your budget is at this price range you'd do yourself a favour by at least considering this item, I love mine!! 28 May 2013
