Oregon Weather Station BAR206
I bought the weather station almost 3 years ago having had great service from an Oregon clock for over 10 years.
The weather station has been great and forecasts have been very good but is now out of warranty and has died totally which makes it an expensive item if it needs replacement every 3 years.
I have tried changing the batteries and resetting the station and outdoor sensor to no avail, it is dead.
I will not be buying another one.

Bought for my grandson who is doing weather and climate at school. Great success..easy to use and gives him all the data he needs. He's really into weather now!

Not if you want to see meaningful min/max figures
The BAR208HG model is made in China and has a reasonable display screen - if you are standing close to it - on which you can see either the time or the date but not both.
It also tells you the current temperature and humidity in the locations where the display unit is placed and where the "remote" sensor is placed. The remote sensor is meant for outside but it must be hung in a position sheltered from direct sunlight and rain and no higher than five feet. Difficult to find such an outside place round most houses!
It also displays a crude prediction of forthcoming weather.
My issue is with the following:-
The function to see min/max records #temperature & humidity# is next to useless because, as confirmed by Oregon Customer Service on the one occasion they deemed to answer me, it is designed only to show records over a 24 hour period. My experience is that it could well be less than this.
The Oregon Customer Service Department chose not to answer two of three e-mails sent to them on this subject and quoted me a passage from the wrong part of the manual to try and explain that this weakness in recording is explained therein. It is not.
I have a much earlier model which retained min/max periods during any ongoing period ended by me only when I chose to physically re-set it.
The manual suggests a similar function but Oregon themselves say it doesn't exist on this #newer#model. In what way, therefore, is the BAR208HG "Advanced".
My conclusion:- neither the instrument nor the customer service operatives are up to the job.
Note that many of the "good" reviews of this product are good because of the ordering and/or delivery process. This is down to the high standards of John Lewis and is nothing to do with the quality of Oregon. Buy something else.

useful weather station
This is a easy to setup product easy to read and works well. My one complaint is that it does not show the date like the old model did which worked well for about 7 years

Brilliant piece of kit
Bought this 8 months ago for my daughter's Birthday, and its been in use since with no problems, in all weathers (outside unit has been subjected to heat and cold and very heavy rain).
Very reliable and no problems with batteries, which have been changed only once. Glad I decided to buy this model.

An excellent product.
It does what it says on the tin. It is very accurate, giving inside-outside temperatures, along with humidity readings inside. the visual display of the weather conditions is an unusual but welcome feature. The "Time Clock" is extremely accurate. Altogether an excellent product.
