Car seat fitting service

From bringing your newborn baby home for the very first time, to exploring the world with your toddler, if you’re getting from A to B in a car then it’s vital you use the correct infant carrier, child car seat or booster seat.

Choosing an infant carrier or car seat can be quite a daunting experience. There are so many models to choose from, but how do you know what’s right for your family? Our trained Partners will be happy to help you and explain all the things you should consider.

You can also read ‘Safely Seated’ for more information on how to choose the correct seat.

How the service works

Our Nursery advisors receive regular training to ensure they have up-to-date product knowledge and understand the strict safety laws that must be followed. They can even provide a hands-on demonstration in your own car to provide complete peace of mind.

The Car seat fitting service will cover the following areas:

  • Our Nursery advisor will ask you a few questions in order to identify your exact needs. They’ll then advise you on the most suitable infant carrier or car seat.
  • They’ll demonstrate how to use car seats and the difference between them, to help you make a confident and informed decision
  • They will advise on safety
  • They will also explain how car seats are purchased and ordered, so you know exactly what to expect

Demonstrations

Our Nursery advisors can demonstrate how to fit a car seat in your own car. This service will reassure you that the model you’ve chosen is suitable for your car, and you’ll also have the opportunity to fit the seat yourself, with the support of an experienced Partner.

The following shops offer this demonstration service:

The following shops are unable to offer the demonstration service in your car. However, they do have a demonstration car seat in store which allows you to practise fitting an infant carrier or car seat.

If the facility to try isn’t available at your local shop, or you buy your car seat online, you may be able to make an appointment at one of our other shops, or have it checked with your County Road Safety officer – check your local government’s website.

In conjunction with Which? we’ve signed up to the ‘Retailer Best Practice Charter’. We’re committed to this charter, which clearly explains the training that every selling assistant should have and the process that will be followed when offering advice on infant carriers and car seats.
