Before we arrive for your TV and stand installation, check:

  • There is enough room for your TV (including your stand if having one assembled too) where you want to position it
  • You have checked the aerial and electrical sockets are working and within 1m of the installation location
  • There are enough electrical sockets for all the equipment
  • You have all the correct connecting cables
  • If you've bought a Smart TV, you have checked that your internet connection is working and within range of where you want to position your TV
  • You have the correct bracket, purchased from John Lewis, ready for the installer to fit if selecting wall-mounted installation

We offer a range of services to get you up and running with your new TV. If available for your chosen model, the option will be offered to you when you buy.

TV setup

Standard TV installation

£34.99 for a standard TV installation.

Includes:

  • Unpacking your TV and attaching any supplied pedestal
  • Tuning in the channels and connecting to your other devices such as DVD players and soundbars
  • Connection to the Internet, if it's a Smart TV
  • Demonstrating the important features, including how to: switch it on and off; select the programme you want to watch; navigate the built-in programme guide; access the menu so you can personalise the sound and picture settings; and watch content from other connected devices such as your DVD player or set top box
  • For an additional fee, we can also dispose of your old TV

Optional add-ons:

  • If you're buying a stand, we can also arrange an assembly service from £24.99

Wall mounting your new TV

£125 for standard wall mount

From £179 for wall mount with hidden cables (dependent on size of TV)

  • A call to double check that your wall and location is suitable before our consultant arrives
  • Everything included in standard wall mount
  • Concealing your cables in a wall cavity or solid wall channel

Additional TV services

TV stand assembly

If you're buying a stand for your TV, we can assemble it for you. Choose from one of our three services, which costs:

  • £24.99 for basic models
  • £44.99 for intermediate models
  • £69.99 for complex models

The category of assembly will be displayed when selecting your stand.

Don’t forget, if you’re buying a new TV too, you’ll need to book an installation in addition to TV stand assembly when making your purchase. These services can be arranged on the same day, as long as you purchase your products at the same time.

Home cinema installation

£55, or £29.99 if you include this with another installation service.

  • Unpacking and connecting your home cinema system
  • Setting the right sound levels

Freesat dish installation

This service is only available in our shops or by telephone. Call 03301 230 106 or visit your local John Lewis.

Standard Freesat dish installation — allows you to watch but not record.

  • Connection to 1 room £78
  • Connection to 2 rooms £115

Set-up includes:

  • Mounting your satellite dish, providing the necessary standard brackets and up to 10m of cable
  • Connecting it to your Freesat device in up to 2 rooms
  • Connecting your dish to a Freesat box or TV in your home

Premium Freesat service — watch and record different channels at the same time. You require a watch and record Freesat box or TV to enable this service.

TV disposal

£9

If you want us to dispose of your old TV, simply select the option at checkout, provided it’s 37” screen size or over. (There’s no size restriction on disposal if you buy your TV in our shops.)

Delivery exclusions

  • Installation, disposal and recycling services are not available in conjunction with express delivery.
  • If the product is coming directly from a supplier, installation isn’t always offered online. However, you can check if the service is available by calling 0345 604 8835 to purchase.

What our services don’t cover

There are a few restrictions on our TV, home cinema and freesat installation services.

We are unable to:

  • Provide brackets, stands, Freeview box, DVD/VCR, cables, adaptors or extension leads you haven’t purchased. If these aren't included with your TV and you need them, please purchase before installation
  • Install a Sky or cable system
  • Wall mount your speakers, or set up speaker stands
  • Lay cabling under carpets or flooring
  • Dispose of old equipment (unless you have purchased our disposal service), or install it in another room
  • Install a product not purchased from John Lewis (such as a DVD player), unless it's already connected to your existing TV
  • Install in commercial premises

Our Freesat installation excludes:

  • Installation of more than one mesh-type dish over 80cm
  • Connection or feed into more than 2 rooms
  • Installation at above 10m in height
  • Connection of a product that is more than 1m away from a suitable mains outlet and or aerial connection
  • Provision of specialised access equipment such as a crane, or non-standard mounting equipment such as extra-large wall brackets
  • Cable over 15m in length and/or specialist trunking
  • Permits for road closures for installation
  • Installations in commercial premises
