Home Design Service

John Lewis Home Design service

Planning a home project?

From a complete redesign to a seasonal update of one room, you can book an appointment to call on the expertise of our Home design advisors to help you bring out the very best in your home.

They'll bring a fresh and creative perspective to your design project, working closely with you every step of the way to create something that's both practical and unique, whether it's key ideas for one room, or a whole new interior scheme.

You can either:

  • book a free in-store appointment, for help and inspiration for minor changes or a room refresh, or
  • opt for a more thorough home consultation for £200 (redeemable against made to order or made to order purchases), which we'd particularly recommend if you're contemplating changes in several rooms

Appointments for both in-store and at home typically last 90 - 120 minutes, depending on how many rooms in your project. Book online below, or by phone or in person at any of our shops, except Heathrow, St Pancras International, and Croydon and Ipswich at Homes.

If your local John Lewis is Cheadle, Chester, Trafford, York, Cribbs Causeway or Swindon, we're now trialling a new version of the service for you to try - find out more.

Toby Durant

Toby Durant

Home Design advisor,
John Lewis Edinburgh

Toby graduated from Dartington College of Arts and has been a Home Design advisor since 2002.

Over the years he’s had the opportunity to advise closely on a number of prestigious projects in the city, including work with Historic Scotland, The University of St. Andrews and for the Foster + Partners Quartermile development.

He’d probably describe his style as Classic Contemporary, but if he could choose an age in which to have lived it would be Art Deco, so he’d definitely add some key accents from that era.

What he enjoys about his job is the fact that the architecturally and culturally diverse city of Edinburgh means that no two jobs are like. Working to tailor interiors to each individual and property means that every day brings him a new challenge and fresh inspiration.

Jo Penter

Home Design advisor,
John Lewis Liverpool

Jo’s been working in home design for 4 years, 2 of those with John Lewis.

During her design degree, she created her own range of tableware, which won an award from goldsmiths and was exhibited at the New Designers annual London exhibition.

She finds it hard to label her style, as working with such a spectrum of products causes her to fall in love with new designs and ideas every day – though she’s generally drawn to more contemporary designs with new and exciting combinations of colour and pattern.

Jo loves the variety of her job, with different customers, personalities and homes. She gets great satisfaction from getting to know her customers and creating unique schemes to meet their needs, plus seeing a project through from beginning to end.
