Make a lasting impression

In an age of email and text messaging, there’s still demand for communicating the traditional way with social stationery. We have a comprehensive range of style and fonts to choose from in writing paper, business cards, birth announcements and change of address notes.

But undoubtedly the vast majority of the orders we take are for wedding stationery, which you can now order online as well as in our shops. It's such an important part of the whole ritual, as it provides the first impression that your guests will have of your forthcoming wedding and the style you’ve chosen for the celebration.

There’s a vast range to select from; we use 2 companies: Letter Press and CCA. You can choose formal, classic or more contemporary styles, but in all instances the wording is engraved on cream or white card in a choice of different ink colours. You may not be thinking of having a themed wedding, but you’ll probably have an accent colour in mind that runs throughout all your arrangements for the big day.

Language translation of invitations and so on for overseas guests is available for an additional charge. You can choose from different typefaces, ink colours and ribbons on different boards.


Once you’ve actually set a date, you might like to have ‘Save the day’ cards made to send to close friends and relatives - that way they can block out their diaries until the formal invitations arrive!

For the standard service, email proofs can arrive in as little as 3- 5 working days; printed versions take around 10 working days. Having a proof done eliminates any possible mistakes that might have occurred while composing your invites, and gives you a preview.

Once you approve your proofs, orders take approximately 3 - 4 weeks. If you’re cutting it fine, there’s also an express service option for an additional charge, which takes 10 working days.

If you have a gift list with us, we can arrange to have the gift list inserts printed for a nominal charge, and there’s a free of charge express service on that of 5 working days.


Here’s an example of what you can expect to pay, though obviously this is dependent on what you choose. Classic by Letter Press is one our most popular ranges, and a quantity of 60 invitations would be £117*. This price includes flat black ink, your choice of font, the layout proof, unlined matching envelopes and standard delivery. You can of course opt for ribbons, gold or silver edging and a number of other extras at additional charge.

Top tips

Set your budget

If you’re having a large wedding the cost of stationery can soon mount. It’s always advisable to make a list of your minimum needs for the wedding invitations/order of service/thank you cards, and then if your budget allows you then have the option of adding extras, like ribbons or tassels, printed or lined envelopes and gilt or silver edging, or even a photo on the front.

Work out the timescale

Wedding invitations are normally sent 8 - 16 weeks before the date allowing guests to plan, so you need to add 4 weeks on to that for printing. Obviously orders of service and anything big-day related can be ordered later, allowing you to spread the cost a little.

Work out what to say

It’s always advisable to have a think about your wording and other details and bring a copy of this along with you to make sure we get the right information in the order. Although your wording can vary, depending on how formal or traditional you want your celebration to be, make sure that the invitation (always sent from whoever is hosting the wedding) includes the following:

  • Name/s of the bride’s parent/s or the host/s
  • Brides’s first name
  • First and surname of bridegroom (plus title for more traditional weddings)
  • Location of the ceremony
  • Location of the reception
  • Address for replies, and RSVP deadline

You might also wish to include:

  • Details of any theme or dress code
  • Time guests can expect the reception to end
  • Whether children are invited
  • Request for information on any dietary requirements
