We'll get you up and running

For all the advantages that technology offers, setting up and installing a new TV can be time-consuming and sometimes tricky, even for those with technical know-how. Gone are the days when you just switched on and watched! TVs today need to be connected so you can watch your choice of channels.

We offer a range of services from £47, each one with the added convenience of being completed in your home at the time of delivery. The service includes assembly of the stand and connecting your TV to the aerial and other equipment. We can even mount your TV on a wall. We'll tune it in to all available channels, and talk you through the basic controls so that you can start enjoying your new TV right away.

Standard TV installation

We'll supply, unpack, assemble any accessories such as a stand, connect your TV to the aerial, turn on and tune in to all available channels and connect you to up to 3 existing devices (such as a DVD player or satellite box).

Wall mounting your new TV

We'll call you first to double check that your wall and location is suitable before our consultant arrives to supply, unpack and fit brackets (sold separately), mount your TV, set it up and run all cables neatly along your wall.

Enhanced wall mount (hidden cables)

If you'd like to have the TV cables hidden, our specialist enhanced service involves mounting your TV as in the standard service but concealing the cables in a wall cavity or solid wall channel.

The price depends on the size of your TV, and starts at £179.

Home cinema installation

For £55, we'll supply, unpack and connect the amplifier and speakers for your new home cinema system, as well as setting the right sound levels so that it's all ready to go for you.

If you include this with another installation service, the cost is only £30.

Freesat dish installation

Freesat offers free High Definition TV through a satellite dish. These two services include the supply and fitting of a new dish and connection to a suitable product in your home.

Our introductory freesat service will get you up and running with your new freesat product. We'll supply and mount your satellite dish, providing the necessary standard brackets and up to 10m of cable. Then we'll connect it to a your new freesat device in up to 2 rooms

If you want to watch and record different channels at the same time, we'll supply and mount your satellite dish, providing all necessary cables and connections.

Other TV installation services
Digital switch over-retuning and aerials

The way in which TV signals are transmitted is changing across the country, and these changes will make additional channels available. To receive these channels, your TV may need to be retuned, so if you're unsure how to do this our retune service is for you.

For £45, we'll visit your home and retune up to 4 digital TVs or receivers for you. We'll demonstrate the electronic TV guide and where your new channels are located, as well as showing you how to access digital teletext and other interactive services.

In certain circumstances a new aerial maybe required, which we can supply and fit for you too. For £189, we'll supply, deliver, unpack and install your digital TV aerial, mount and fix it to the wall or chimney using standard brackets and, with up to 10m of cabling, connect it to your new or existing digital TV.

How to book these services

You can arrange these services at checkout, though they may not always be available for certain types of TV when you buy online; however, if you still want the installation service, or you decide later that you'd like us to install for you, you can visit or call your nearest John Lewis to buy the service separately - you'll just need to take in your delivery note or a print out of your order receipt. 

We can also dispose of your old TV, providing it's a 37" screen or larger. this service will be offered to you at checkout when you buy your new TV. If you buy your new TV in our shops, there's no restriction on size for disposal.
