Coole Swan tastings

Every Sunday afternoon we offer complimentary tastings of Coole Swan. Coole Swan is a tasty cream liqueur made with Irish whiskey, cocoa, vanilla and double cream.

The gentle melt in the mouth feeling of the cold, fresh, cream and smooth silky white chocolate reveals the warmth of the mellow, rounded whiskey.

Supporting our communities

Our aims

We're proud of the close links we forge between our Partners and local schools, charities and organisations. And wherever we do business, at home or abroad, we work with communities to make a difference. That's why:

  • Our Community Matters programme in our shops continues to support local charities and community groups.
  • We aim to give at least 1% of pre-tax profits to community initiatives.
  • We will continue to seek out projects that support the John Lewis Foundation at home and abroad.

If you'd like to nominate a good cause for Community Matters please complete the nomination form and take it to the Customer Services department.

The charities we're supporting from February 2016 – April 2016 are:

  • The Prince's Trust - The Prince's Trust supports 13 - 30 year olds who are unemployed or struggling at school, giving practical and financial support to stabilise their lives. They have supported 825,000 young people since they started in 1976. Our funding will help more young people to develop confidence, strength and skills to realise their potential.
  • Barnardo's Care Leavers - support young people leaving care, encouraging them to gain employment, training or further education and helps secure permanent accommodation. Our funding will provide a Care Leavers Kit with essential equipment for moving into their first independent home.
  • Brent Mind Horizon Service - the Horizon Service run by Brent Mind aims to help people recover from mental health distress and support well-being through peer support, group activities, training, volunteering and relapse prevention. Our funding will go towards these services, supporting adults living in Brent who are experiencing mental health distress.

This is how November 2015 - January 2015 Community Matters' charities benefited from being part of the scheme:

  • Haematology Cancer Care - received £1170
  • Age UK Barnet - received £1080
  • HF Trust London - received £750

John Lewis foundation

Since the introduction of the law requiring retailers to charge for single-use carrier bags, our charity, the John Lewis Foundation, has been responsible for distributing the proceeds to UK charities. We’ve aimed to choose charities closely aligned with the principles of the Foundation, supporting activities that promote education and inclusion, and enable employment. We’re sharing the past year’s proceeds of over £155,000 between six charities.
