Supporting our communities

Our aims

We're proud of the close links we forge between our Partners and local schools, charities and organisations. And wherever we do business, at home or abroad, we work with communities to make a difference. That's why:

  • Our Community Matters programme in our shops continues to support local charities and community groups.
  • We aim to give at least 1% of pre-tax profits to community initiatives.
  • We will continue to seek out projects that support the John Lewis Foundation at home and abroad.

If you'd like to nominate a good cause for Community Matters please complete the nomination form and take it to the Customer Services department.

The charities we're supporting from November 2015 - January 2016 are:

  • Carers Trust Cambridgeshire - They support family carers and disabled or ill children, adults and elderly people in Cambridgeshire. It's emotionally and often physically tough, and the charity aims to relieve these pressures. Our donation will be used to fund breaks, activities, group support, training and emotional help for family carers and their families.
  • Contact the Elderly Cambridgeshire - This charity provides monthly Sunday tea parties for older people who are unable to get out on their own. A volunteer driver takes them to the home of a volunteer host where they enjoy an afternoon of company and support. For some guests, this is their only social activity. Our donation will be used to support the existing group in Cambridge and to help set up new Cambridge groups.
  • Little Bundles Cambridgeshire - Gathers donations of used baby equipment and clothes to pass on to families in need around the Cambridgeshire area. Our donation will be used to purchase items that are needed but not usually donated, such as cot mattresses, stair gates, highchairs, etc.
