Knit and natter

Knit and natter

John Lewis Cardiff has its very own knitting group and is hoping to welcome some new members. The group meets on the last Thursday of every month from 5pm - 7pm, and meets in the Espresso Bar on the First Floor.

All are very welcome - you don't have to be a knitting expert. In fact, if you're a beginner or have a half-finished project, now's the time to come along to the group and get inspiration from the other members. Please ask a  Haberdashery Partner for more details.

Supporting our communities

Our aims

We're proud of the close links we forge between our Partners and local schools, charities and organisations. And wherever we do business, at home or abroad, we work with communities to make a difference. That's why:

  • Our Community Matters programme in our shops continues to support local charities and community groups.
  • We aim to give at least 1% of pre-tax profits to community initiatives.
  • We will continue to seek out projects that support the John Lewis Foundation at home and abroad.

If you'd like to nominate a good cause for Community Matters please complete the nomination form and take it to the Customer Services department.

The charities we're supporting from February 2016 – April 2016 are:

  • Teenage Cancer Trust Wales - Teenage Cancer Trust is based at the University Hospital Wales in Cardiff and ensures that any young person with cancer aged 13-24 years old has the choice to be treated in a specialist age-appropriate facility.
  • Ty Hafan - Ty Hafan offers comfort, care and support for life-limited children and their families, helping them make the most of the time they have left together.
  • CLIC Sargent - CLIC Sargent in Cardiff supports 0-24 year olds diagnosed with cancer. They support the whole family to deal with the impact of cancer through their specialist nurse service.

This is how November 2015 - January 2016 Community Matters' charities benefited from being part of the scheme:

  • Age Cymru received £999
  • Age Connects Cardiff & Vale received £918
  • Ty Hapus received £1083

This means that when you visit John Lewis Cardiff we'll have to charge you 5p for each carrier bag, but of course there won't be any charge if you choose to use your own bags. We'll be donating all the proceeds from each carrier bag we sell to Keep Wales Tidy (KWT), an environmental charity.

For more information on carrier bag charging, please visit the
