About John Lewis Cardiff
John Lewis Cardiff is Wales’ largest department store - and John Lewis’s first in the Principality. Opening in September 2009, it’s the anchor store of the St David’s 2 development. At 280,000 square foot, the shop occupies 4 storeys and is dominated by a glass ‘prow’, a triple-glazed feature designed by Ericsson Architects.
Charging for carrier bags in Wales
It's a legal requirement for all retailers in Wales to charge customers a minimum of 5p for each carrier bag they supply. Find out more.
John Lewis Cardiff is in Hayes Place. Entrances to the shop are from Hayes Place, Bute Terrace and Tredegar Street. There's also walkway access to the first floor from St David's.
There is parking for 550 cars in the Basement. Entrance to the car park is from Hayes Bridge Road and it's well signposted on all major roads. The shop is 5 minutes' walk from Cardiff Central station.
You simply place your online order by 7pm today, and we'll deliver it to your chosen shop for you to collect after 2pm tomorrow. This service is available from all John Lewis shops, and in an increasing number of selected Waitrose branches.
The service is available for most but not all of the items we sell, so please check individual product pages when you place an order. We're unable to accept orders that include items for collection from one of our shops as well as items for delivery, so in these cases, please place two separate orders – one for collection and one for delivery.

This means that when you visit John Lewis Cardiff we'll have to charge you 5p for each carrier bag, but of course there won't be any charge if you choose to use your own bags. We'll be donating all the proceeds from each carrier bag we sell to Keep Wales Tidy (KWT), an environmental charity. For more information on carrier bag charging, please visit the Carrier Bag Charge website.
Community Matters is a charitable giving scheme that runs throughout our shops.
Every 3 months each shop selects 3 community groups to help. Customers are then directly involved in deciding how much each nominated group receives, by using a token to vote for the organisation they'd like to support.
Each shop has £3000 to donate which will be split between the charities according to the proportion of the vote they've received from customers. This means that if a charity receives 31% of the votes, it'll receive a £930 donation.
Charities will receive support in whichever way will benefit them the most, either in the form of John Lewis products, volunteering time from Partners, or as financial support.
The Community Matters boxes will be located in catering areas of each shop. Customers will be given one token per transaction, and will be able to follow how much of the vote each organisation receives over the 3 months.
Organisations eligible for Community Matters include charities, schools and relevant community groups. Partners will look at the requests that are submitted and choose 3 organisations to support for the following 3 months. Organisations that would like to be considered for Community Matters should visit their local John Lewis to pick up a nomination form.
We're proud of the close links we forge between our Partners and local schools, charities and organisations. And wherever we do business, at home or abroad, we work with communities to make a difference. That's why:
