Knit and natter

Knit and natter

John Lewis Cardiff has its very own knitting group and is hoping to welcome some new members. The group meets on the last Thursday of every month from 5pm - 7pm, and meets in the Espresso Bar on the First Floor.

All are very welcome - you don't have to be a knitting expert. In fact, if you're a beginner or have a half-finished project, now's the time to come along to the group and get inspiration from the other members. Please ask a  Haberdashery Partner for more details.

Supporting our communities

Our aims

We're proud of the close links we forge between our Partners and local schools, charities and organisations. And wherever we do business, at home or abroad, we work with communities to make a difference. That's why:

  • Our Community Matters programme in our shops continues to support local charities and community groups.
  • We aim to give at least 1% of pre-tax profits to community initiatives.
  • We will continue to seek out projects that support the John Lewis Foundation at home and abroad.

If you'd like to nominate a good cause for Community Matters please complete the nomination form and take it to the Customer Services department.

The charities we're supporting from August 2015 – October 2015 are:

  • Headway Cardiff - Headway provides support and services to people affected by Acquired Brain Injury throughout South Wales. They help survivors and their families cope with the often devastating changes that occur following an injury.
  • SWICA Carnival - SWICA Carnival believe participation with local communities and young people is at the heart of carnival arts and offer workshops ranging from small events to large community parades. Each year they transform Cardiff City Centre with a fantastic parade.
  • Voices from Care - Voices from Care work with children and young people who are in care or leaving care. They promote the voices of children and young people by providing them with the opportunities needed to succeed and ensure the best quality of care is provided.

This is how May 2015 - July 2015 Community Matters' charities benefited from being part of the scheme:

  • HCPT Group 105 received £1210
  • New Link Wales received £907
  • Tiny Tunes Music Group received 883
