Knit and natter

Knit and natter

John Lewis Cardiff has its very own knitting group and is hoping to welcome some new members. The group meets on the last Thursday of every month from 5pm - 7pm, and meets in the Espresso Bar on the First Floor.

All are very welcome - you don't have to be a knitting expert. In fact, if you're a beginner or have a half-finished project, now's the time to come along to the group and get inspiration from the other members. Please ask a  Haberdashery Partner for more details.

Supporting our communities

Our aims

We're proud of the close links we forge between our Partners and local schools, charities and organisations. And wherever we do business, at home or abroad, we work with communities to make a difference. That's why:

  • Our Community Matters programme in our shops continues to support local charities and community groups.
  • We aim to give at least 1% of pre-tax profits to community initiatives.
  • We will continue to seek out projects that support the John Lewis Foundation at home and abroad.

If you'd like to nominate a good cause for Community Matters please complete the nomination form and take it to the Customer Services department.

The charities we're supporting from May 2015 – July 2015 are:

  • Tiny Tunes Music Group - Tiny Tunes is a free pre-school music group run by local mums in Cardiff West providing children with the opportunity to develop speech and language through fun, singing and play.
  • HCPT Group 105 - HCPT Group 105 is a Cardiff based group who have been taking disabled and disadvantaged children aged 7-18 on holiday to Lourdes in France for over 30 years.
  • New Link Wales - New Link Wales is a substance misuse charity that tackles substance abuse through innovation. They pro-actively provide young people, practitioners and communities with the knowledge and skills to prevent substance misuse and reduce harm.

This is how February 2015 - April 2015 Community Matters' charities benefited from being part of the scheme:

  • Y Bont received £1200
  • RNIB (Cymru) received £1179
  • Inroads received £621

This means that when you visit John Lewis Cardiff we'll have to charge you 5p for each carrier bag, but of course there won't be any charge if you choose to use your own bags. We'll be donating all the proceeds from each carrier bag we sell to Keep Wales Tidy (KWT), an environmental charity.

For more information on carrier bag charging, please visit the
