As giant artist-decorated sculptures of Shaun the Sheep descend on the streets of Bristol in support of Wallace and Gromit's Grand Appeal, we have teamed up with local schools and others to knit and decorate our own Shaun's.
Strategically hidden deep within the shop, these individual hand-decorated Shaun's are waiting to be discovered in a special 'Shaun the Sheep Hunt'.
To take part, visit our Haberdashery department and ask for a hunt form. You'll be invited to make a minimum donation of £1 towards the Grand Appeal. The overall winner will win £100 worth of John Lewis gift vouchers.
6 July - 31 August
We're proud of the close links we forge between our Partners and local schools, charities and organisations. And wherever we do business, at home or abroad, we work with communities to make a difference. That's why:
If you'd like to nominate a good cause for Community Matters please complete the nomination form and take it to the Customer Services department.
The charities we're supporting from May 2015 – August 2015 are:
Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how a person communicates and relates to other people. The donation will be used to set up a Swimmers' Academy as Autistic children can often be excluded from 'normal life' due to their unpredictable behaviour.
The National Osteoporosis Society is the only UK-wide charity dedicated to improving the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of Osteoporosis and fragility fractures. The donation will support the local Bristol group and their helpline which is staffed by nurses.
The Sands supports anyone who has been affected by the death of a baby before, during or shortly after birth. The donation will support the local Sands Bristol group. The charity offers emotional support and information for parents, grandparents, siblings, children, families and friends, health professionals and others.
This is how February 2015 - April 2015 Community Matters' charities benefited from being part of the scheme:
