Regular events

Knit and Natter

Join us in The Place to Eat on the last Wednesday of every month with your knitting/crocheting for a knit and natter. The group is completely free and runs from 5pm - 6.30pm.

Is your tablet giving you a headache?

Our Partners will be on hand to offer advice, practical support and guidance to all new tablet owners. There will be a question and answer session running from 11am - 1pm.

Craft workshops

Knitting with beads

Join Melanie Boocock to learn how to add sparkle and interest to your knitting using beads. She'll show you how to read from a chart and use mattress stitch to sew up your work.


All materials are provided, just bring along 3.75mm and 4mm knitting needles and a knitter's sewing kit.


This class is suitable for established knitters. The class costs £50 to attend and includes morning and afternoon tea and a light lunch.

Design your own kits with Sarah Hatton

This workshop looks at the basics of how a knitting pattern is written, helping you to change sweaters into cardigans or change the shape of a neck line, or even to start writing your own pattern.


Bring along a favourite old pattern or garment (handmade or shop bought) to this workshop and Sarah will show you how to transform it.


You'll need to bring a calculator, pencil and any yarn for your project and a 10cm tension square.


This class is suitable for established knitters. The class costs £50 to attend and includes morning and afternoon tea and a light lunch.

24 September, 10.30am - 4.30pm


Learn to knit with Bev Hodgkinson

During this workshop Bev will show you how to cast on and off and how to knit the knit, purl, stocking and garter stitches. You'll also learn how to read basic patterns. You'll be given a free bag pattern to take home so you can put your new skills into practice.


You'll need to bring along 3.75mm and 4mm knitting needles and a small sewing kit, all other materials will be provided.


The class costs £35.

Freeform patchwork with Jenny Stillwell

Learn how to patchwork as Jenny talks you through this lovely way of using old scraps of fabric left over from other projects.


You'll learn how to make fabric suitable for embellishing and backing notebooks.


The class coats £50 and includes morning and afternoon tea and a light lunch.

Steeking with Melanie Boocock

This workshop, for the experienced knitter, is a good introduction to Fairisle and Steeking. You'll learn how to use colours in your work and have the process of Steeking demystified as well as having a go at a mini Fairisle project knit in the round and steeked.


Please bring along 3.75mm and 4mm knitting needles and a small sewing kit, all other materials will be provided.


The class costs £50 and includes morning and afternoon tea and a light lunch.


1 November, 10.30am - 4.30pm


Assembling your handknits with Bev Hodgkinson. Bring along your unfinished handknits to this workshop and Bev will guide you through the techniques needed to give them a professional finish. Techniques you'll be looking at include: blocking; pressing; casting off and mattress stitch.


Please bring along knitting needles and a small sewing kit. The class is £35.

Wentworth Castle wedding fair

Our Gift List team will be attending the Wentworth Castle wedding fair. Come and meet them and find out how easy it is to set up your gift list. The team will also talk you through our other services including personalised stationery, Kuoni honeymoons and event insurance.
