The Panasonic DMR-EX83-EBK features a built-in 250GB hard disk drive that will provide an additional recording capability of up to 440 hours (in EP mode). Its built-in digital tuner also allows you to watch all standard free to air digital channels.

This impressive machine offers recording and playback of a wide variety of formats including DVD-RAM, DVD-R/-RW and DVD+R/+RW. It also features time slip recording which will allow you to start watching a programme before it has finished recording to the end.

It’s also possible to transfer files from digital devices using the USB input and the SD memory card slot. These files, as well as data from CDs can easily be saved on the hard drive. So it’s ideal for storing your music and displaying your photos.

Thanks to upscaling technology, this player can give your standard definition DVDs a near high definition “makeover” when connected to a compatible 1080p TV. You’ll notice detail in your favourite films you’ve never spotted before!

Best DVD Recorder ever Just got rid of a Toshiba DVD recorder which was useless, this Panasonic is the best dvd recorder I have ever purchased. I need one for transfering holiday videos from my camcorder onto DVD, this was easy to understand, easy to set up and works like a dream, if only all technology could be so simple. Just what we have been looking for We have a couple of wildlife cameras in our garden and although we were able to watch through the AV3 sockets on the telly , we had no way of recording, say through the night. As this product has input AV3 sockets and a 250GB HDD it is ideal, and with both USB & SD card slots it is easy to download to our PC etc. The handbook is very large and complex ,but that is because this machine does a lot of things, and I found that once you get to grips with all the abreviations (which are fully explained ) it all becomes clear, although I have not yet had time to try everything that it does ,what I have tried worked perfectly. Excellent service and a bargain with extra Guarantee from JL. 02 January 2013

Loving the HDD I like Panasonic and am not disappointed with this recorder. We're still learning all the things it can do but it was straightforward to set up. It's the first time we've had an HDD model so it's great not having to fiddle about with discs all the time. 10 December 2012

Does what is says on the box! This item was chosen to replace a very old and worn out video recorder and DVD player. It was selected because Panasonic has a good reputation and the reviews on this page were positive. It does everything the very helpful assistant in Peter Jones said it would. Setting up was fairly straighforward and how wonderful it is to have a simple method of setting a timer to record a programme so avoiding all that fiddle of entering times, dates and channels etc. It is just a few clicks of OK and all is done. My only criticism is that the little display window is just that - very little and the various drive indicators (HHD,DVD, SD etc) are very difficult to read at a distance. Not being a watch wearer another minor irritation is that the time is not displayed in the display window as it was on my old worn out video recorder. However, I am very pleased with the product; it was ordered over the internet and delivery was very quick. 09 December 2012

All you would need in a HD DVD recorder Only had it a day. Nov. 2012. Ordered 11:20 one day received 08:30 next day. Easy to set up and use. Hope I can say this in six months. Can only reiterate what someone else has said; (I bought this product in July 2011 and must say I would recommend this to anyone, I would also like to thank john Lewis for there 1st class service, and peace of mind that this product came with a 2 year warranty the main feature I like is that you can set up series link when recording and have stacks of room to record on the 250gb hard drive,) Previously had two LG models over last five years, both failed, disappointed with the life span. 29 November 2012

Excellent Easy Set Up But Not Twin Tuner Usual Panasonic high quality and plug and play easy set up - however it only has one TV tuner so you cannot record one TV channel and watch another. 19 November 2012

Just what You would expect from Panasonic We needed a new DVD recorder to replace one that we bought six years ago. This looked like it would fit the bill and allow hard-disc recording and Freeview reception too. As the previous recorder had been a Panasonic we new something of what we were in for with this model and have not been disappointed. So far we have yet to actually burn a DVD with it as the Hard Disc has taken care of all the recording. I doubt if it is any different from the previous model which served us well in this regard. This model even plays our previous recordings which had not been finalised, which is important to us, and which was not mentioned in the instructions. The Freeview reception is good, and the operation of this unit is easy. It also runs a lot cooler than our previous unit which presumably means that it uses less power. I'm sure that when we finally get to burn our first DVD that will not disappoint either. 27 September 2012
